Anyone had a play with the latest distribution yet?

Toying with the idea of giving it a go, but I'm not familiar enough with the internal workings of groovymame to just throw a ready built distro like that in without knowing the under the hood stuff first.

As a quick proof of concept though, I'm tempted can't lie!

I use last years version and its extremely good. boots in no time. no issues with Yoko or Tate screen

simple menus and great support for 15khz output :)

you can boot it from a CD and run it without installing anything if you just want to try it.

for me its the closest way to emulate an arcade pcb

I use it on my New Astro City cabs one of each, I select standard 15Khz crt and not the MS9 29 option as this will try to output medium res for the games that support it and I dont have an easy way to swap res on my monitor, it will output everything at 15khz then :)

I've just tried the live version of the 2020 06 version that's forked off the main, and its so much quicker now, so I'll be upgrading my cabs over the weekend :)

yes they are flashed with atom 15, its the only way to get the games running as close to original as possible. if you are not using with CRT's then you can use normal mame

I'm using substring's 2020.06 fork too. I have a 15khz hantarex polo/3, an ATI hd6450 card (non-atom-flashed), with a jpac and a nice fast cpu (ryzen 3600). With this setup i can use both nosleep and high framedelay options to get virtually no input lag. It is dead easy to setup and it really is almost indistinguishable from real hardware.
