Is it just me or have Japan Proxy services removed the option to use Japan Post services posting to the UK? I've queried it with my proxy but as it's 9pm there it's out of business hours so won't get a response until tomorrow.
Anyone know what's going on as I can't find any information on the Japan Post site relating to suspension of services to the UK. I've tried FromJapan and Buyee and both are showing the UK as unavailable as Japan Post postage options. Anyone who is storing items to consolidate into one surface shipment may be in trouble. Only UPS, FEDex and DHL are available and they seem to have increased their rates.

It has something to do with the duty at their side. Not sure but I have had a mixed bag where some will go JPN post and others only by expensive couriers. Don’t know why it is that way.

Thanks Jon. This makes sense. Currently it's assumed that duty on anything sub £135 is collected on their side when it's not. Probably a suspension of service until they sort everything out their end.

Suspension of Japan Post services is the Middle East situation related apparently. Nothing on the official site yesterday (not checked today). Anyone using Japan Post from the 10th of March 2026 onwards will likely have their package returned so proxies still offering this service are just taking your money and will probably charge you more fees to re-pack your order so they can send it via a premium service. Those who use freight forwarders should be ok but a lot of the proxies are assholes and won't help. I can see a lot of paypal charges heading their way. Who is going to pay £60 shipping for a £3 coin mech for example?

Part of the email I got from one of the proxies provided some information but no solutions for people with items sitting in their warehouse that now cost at least double to send:

"Due to the worsening situation in the Middle East, Japan Post has temporarily suspended shipments to the countries and regions listed below.
Some shipping methods and destination countries had already been suspended previously, so please review the latest information as of now.
* Latest update as of March 10, 2026

- All of Africa
- The following Middle Eastern countries:
Bahrain, Kuwait, Israel, Qatar, United Arab Emirates, Jordan, Oman, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Turkey

Shipping Method: FedEx (Economy)
- Bahrain, Kuwait, Israel, Qatar, United Arab Emirates, Jordan, Oman, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Turkey

Shipping Method: FedEx (DHL)

Additionally, packages that have already been shipped may be returned to Japan or experience delivery delays. We appreciate your understanding.

We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience caused and thank you for your understanding."

I use sendico and they still listed it the other day when I shipped something but it ended up going fedex as it was cheaper
Don't fedex charge import costs on everything whether it's below or above the £135 import threshold for duty?
I was mistakenly sent a tax invoice for someone for a 99 cents sample from China once lol! I think they wanted about £7 plus fees. Absolutely bizarre. Fedex customer services in the UK are about as useful as a chocolate teapot.

FedEx are buggers for import duty. They even sent me an invoice for a fee I'd already paid.
Yep, I've had a number of problems with them. Total lack of comms and they just pass on anything unpaid to a dodgy as fuck debt collectors ( one of those companies that is a subsidiary of a subsidiary owned by a guy with many fingers in different pies).
So options for couriers are either Fedex, DHL or UPS.
Anyone got any recommendations?

edit: Just had a look at options for shipping and Japan Post is back on the menu.

fromjapan posted up this message on their site:

"2026.03.13 - Resumption of Japan Post Shipping to All of Europe.
Thank you for using One Map by FROM JAPAN.

As of March 13, 2026, we have resumed Japan Post shipping to Europe and is currently available for selection.

However, please note that shipments may pass through international transit hubs that are affected by the situation in the Middle East. As such, we have been advised by Japan Post that there is a risk of delivery delays and returned shipments, even on routes outside that region. Please take this into account when selecting your shipping method.

Global logistics conditions remain unstable, and customers in the affected regions may experience some inconvenience. We kindly ask for your understanding and ask that you consider this when using our services.

We will provide updates on this website as soon as new information becomes available."

We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience caused and thank you for your understanding.
