Hi everyone,

I've been wanting to build my own cab for sometime now and am really looking for advice into the most cost effective way to do this, are there guides? is mame the way to go?

I've always had consoles but still loved going to arcades to play the games there.

I was running mame on my pc for sometime but its just not the same.

went to namco funscape last week eager for some 90's classic gaming (turtles, simpsons, metal slug etc) only to be let down by all the new games which all seem to be either time crisis clones or racing games.

finding arcades with decent games in is a rarity nowadays it seems so I want to look into building my own

Hi and welcome. Building your own is quite a bit of work and generally unnecessary. You can usually find decent enough generic cabinets (jamma/candy/naomi) to make into whatever you want. All those games you listed are jamma standard games so you'll be able to swap em over at will. Only other thing to note is that Turtles and Simpson's are 4 player games so need the extra 2 controls, although you can get 2 player versions as well.

Man, there's tons of decent oldish jamma cabs floating about on here and ebay that can be had for about £100.
