Been lurking for a few months now so thought I’d say hello!
Spent the late 80’s and early 90’s in my local ‘Café & Amusements’ arcade chucking 10p’s in games like Wonderboy, Ghosts n Goblins, Bubble Bobble, Golden Axe, Shinobi, Rainbow Islands, Street Fighter 2 etc.
In around 1995 I even managed to sneak a (free from pub who were throwing it away) jamma cabinet playing Robocop into my parents garage – which they gave away about 5 years later while I was away travelling (Still haven’t forgiven them for that
)
Anyway 25 years has come and gone(wife, kids, house, business, all that malarkey) and I’ve always said I’d get an arcade cab (or two) again. So in the last 3-6 months I’ve been picking up pcb’s where I can from members here and ebay, both to grow a collection of those old favourites and to practice/learn the repair side of things on cheap (usually bootleg) boards with issues.
No space at the moment for a cab but hopefully that’ll change in the next 12-24 months. In the meantime I’ve got a supergun setup and my old Commodore 1084 Monitor to work with!
Anyway, I have learned absolutely tons the last 3 months reading forums and watching repair videos, I hope to contribute where I can, and this place seems like a good place to hang out!
