Hi, I thought I'd introduce myself as I've found myself returning here many times in the past and decided it was about time I registered! Although I don't own a vintage classic arcade machine, I do have a 1990 Eurocoin Jamma cabinet running MAME etc. (It's my baby!)

I also wanted to contact people here as I am in the process of writing a book which I hope will be a nostalgic and humorous account of life in arcades in the 1980, based on true anecdotes and accounts from people that were around at the time (like myself!). If anyone has any recollections or yarns they think might be interesting for possible inclusion in the book, please, let me know! Also, photos - I'm hoping to have some good pictures in the book celebrating some of the classic game designs that are sadly lacking today.

Thanks for your time and I look forward to getting involved in the site!

Dan

I've spent half my evening reading the op raid section. This is just brilliant stuff! Id like to add a section to the book which touches on the dedication and lengths some people have gone to to preserve machines, again, if anyone can help or contribute pictures and thoughts, I'd be hugely grateful. Full credits given of course!

Hi Dan and welcome!

Regarding stories, I'd suggest Andyman (including some amusing tales about cheating on cabs) and Rav & Alpha1 for Op Raids as well as pointers to others who were active back in the day. Would love to read the finished work!

Cheers

Thanks for the info! The book is at a pretty early stage right now but there is a tentative aim to possibly see the book in around 12 months time (if all goes well!)

I'm not just here for the book though, I'm also here for my own love of video machines, so thank-you for the welcome, excuse me when I post a lot yelling 'that'd be great for my book!' , and try not to be too harsh on my personal high scores that haven't improved over the last 30 odd years...

Just wondering, what would be the best section to post into regarding gathering stories and material for my book? I'd like to explain the full intention of the book, but want to post it in the right area. Maybe off-topic? The book is really picking up speed, but I'd like to pick a few brains about some of the ideas as well. Thanks in advance!
