Hi
I hope I don't break any rules or etiquette but I have only joined this forum (sadly) to try and offload the last remaining items in my collection... Hopefully give them a good home and get a little money in my pocket... They're definitely nothing special but I'd rather part with them and have an idea of current value rather than waste time listing them on eBay etc etc.
That said here's a bio of my past interests and collection(s) so you know a lot more about me...
Early 40's. Northwest based. Grew up playing consoles and in the arcade, places local to me were not dedicated but rather part of another business - cafes, bars/clubs, random cabinets in shops. Blackpool, Southport, Rhyl, Llandudno were JAMMA heaven when I was a kid.
I was an avid console gamer (I'm aware this is an arcade forum, I'll get to that shortly) - Atari (my Dad's), Master System II, SNES, Jaguar, N64, PS, Dreamcast, PS2, PS3 and Wii was my organic gamer timeline... As a collector add the following... Lynx, NeoGeoColor, Gameboy, Virtualboy, PC Engine. Master System I, 3DX, Mega CD, 64DD, NES... probably others I'm forgetting... My SNES collection of games was significant, though funded by gifts and supplemented by part time jobs as I was still quite young and dependant on my parents for an 'income' ...
When the PS was released I was able to purchase one in the November after it's release, a lot of money at the time. I read about the disc swapping trick to bypass the regional lockouts, that's when I realised the benefits of working for a living and tested it by buying a Jap PS one game from a console dealer advertisement in Edge magazine (if I remember correctly)... This lead to one of the proudest moments in my console gamer history - saving up and risking months of money to pre-order Tekken 2 for the PS from Japan and receiving it approximately 2½ weeks after it's release date - to the envy of my friends.
Later I split my time between my PS N64 and a local cafe that had 8 or so JAMMA Cabs with Neo Geo MVS 4 slots installed and various games, Cadillacs and Dinosaurs, Final Fight, Double Dragon, Daytona USA, Ghouls and Ghosts, one of the 1940 shooter series and then a mini Time Crisis and later a Point Blank cab.
Before all this YouTube and e-sports became big business i tried my hand at competitive play on consoles - focusing on the N64. Looping the SCART lead into my parents VHS to record my play... Coming 1st in a UK comp for time trial on Mario Kart 64 - Mario Raceway.
NOW.....Arcade - As a kid I loved Fighting, Beat em ups, Shoot em ups... Any head to head game that I could play with friends for a laugh.... In hindsight I was definitely a fan of CAPCOM and SNK related stuff...
I had a decent collection (by my standards) at it's peak, too many to store at home, so I asked a few friends if they could store them for me in their pub and their Games Workshop/Warhammer business premises just so I didn't have to move them on...pics attached.
