Morning all

In Lockdown No 1, I with my family, did a family cookbook
that we got printed and distributed to friends and family. We printed around
500 copies at a cost of around £12 a copy but that’s not relevant here.

I am doing an “Arcade Flyers” book for myself. There will be
no text, just image after image. The maximum the printers allow is 400 pages so
that’s what it will be. So I’d get around 300 different games in as some flyers
will have 2 pages.

See attached as a very first mess around draft. Anyone
interested in a copy or help choose flyers?

Send me a PM.

Regards to all and have a cracking good weekend.

I would buy a copy of this, I really like arcade flyers.

One idea might be to show the same game on two pages, as the Japanese and US/European flyers were often so different. Not for all games, just where it is interesting to compare.

Also, I offer this for the potentially the most disturbing flyer I've seen:

Another idea, I see on the your PDF you have a small black border around each flyer.

Maybe you could add some little icons in the border, so they don't cover the flyer at all, and a Key at the end off the book that shows what they mean.

They would look a bit like the remaining lives displayed in a game like Galaga in the corner off the screen.

The icons could be things like:

* A little flag showing where the game was produce ( Japan, US etc.. )

* A little flag showing where this particular flyer was used

* Two digits for the year

* A little joystick, or two joysticks, or trackball, or steering wheel icon to show what the controls were

I would be interested in a copy of this also. Would it be hardback or paperback? Would they be split and organised by manufacturer, eg. An Atari chapter, Bally, Sega etc etc or just alphabetical?

Ordered by date would be interesting as well, then you can see the general trends changing, Space games slowly being replaced with fighting games as the years play out

Thanks to all who have replied here and PM’d me.

I have to stress again that this is a homebrew, personal book and will never be commercial quality.

Some of your ideas are great and I would suggest you could set up a group and do a group project of top-notch quality that you could go commercial. I don’t know how copyright laws would come into this.

Anyway, a 2nd mock-up is attached. This is what I am aiming for.

Have a good day all.

If you are interested in a copy, please send me a PM.
I will then send you a link to 1st draft and you can see if you still want a copy.

Once again, this is not commercial standard. It’s a gift to myself for a upcoming big birthday. Any profits will either go to charity or kept for future projects……. Book on Arcade Cabinets, book on arcade Control panels etc

Looking very nice. What sort of cover are you doing?

Would be interested.

Do you need reproduction permission for printing any of these, or we just assume they to be so old, nobody cares anymore?
