I was wondering if I can get some advice from you regarding
a private purchase I made ‘across the road’
I have had a wanted post on several of the sites for an
original 3 Layer Taito Space Invaders Part II boardset for quite some time now,
as I have a cocktail in really nice condition that I want to complete.
In early December last year I was contacted by a member of
the forum ‘over there’ who stated he had a spare original Taito 3 Layer SIPII board
set and would check it for me to see if was all good, after confirming that it
was, we agreed a price and confirmed that once he provided photos of the original
board and a video of it working he would try his hardest to get it to me before
Christmas (He’s based in Italy so shipping was always going to be a bit tight).
In my opinion I paid quite a high price for the original boardset
but was reassured that the seller was a
seemingly well-known member of the forum and the transaction would go smoothly.
With this in mind I jumped the gun a bit and made a PP payment (including fees)
for the full amount without seeing the requested board pictures (instead I got
a couple low res pictures of a cabinet with SIPII running on it) so that I
could get it for Christmas and the family could play it.
Roll on three months,
there have been a couple of PM messages from me chasing the pictures/possible
delivery dates and a couple of responses
of the seller showing me his brand new cabinet purchases (no doubt partly
financed by me) and several statements that work has delayed the whole process. I have finally got some pictures (low res
again) of the board but I am now concerned that it is not a true original
boardset as agreed, but a convert from another Taito three layer board. There appear to be quite a few programmable
EEPROMs in the photos which could be due to repairs but I am little sceptical.
Can anyone here help by looking at the below photos and give
me a steer as to whether I am getting a good deal, or if I should look to get a
refund before he (if ever) ships?
