Hi all, i'm not an Arcade cab collector (yet) but i am a very very big
initial D fan i've been following it since i was a young teen growing up. It was a machine that was placed in my local Arcade and i literally put
every bit of cash i could scrap together to play it!

I was wondering if there is anyone local to me with a cabinet, any version local or near to Leeds or anywhere!

i'd love to just have a few turns for a little nostalgia!

thanks alot! :)

P.S. if it's initial D version 3 and you need cards i have some! (Used & named not sure on plays remaining!! ) and i'm willing to part with them for a very very cheap price :) , Thank you again

Yeah i've been searching year after year to find a local machine as i know maybe 5-6 years back there was quite a community in my area growing and growing wanting to play the machine.

Then they removed it and everyone was under the assumption it was going under serious maintenance but it never come back.

It was Replaced instead with "Wangan midnight" which is still a good game, but i wanted the one game all my pocket money had gone into it's why after searching google i found people who shared the arcade interest i do, hoping to get my hands behind the wheel again without leaving the country to play it in singapore or something.

if i could scrap together the cash to build a cabinet myself as i do not really have the knowledge were to get the boards or card readers etc, i'd so do it! i loved that game and i love the Animation also!

Thank you for replying to me! :)

P.S. Sorry for the late reply had a late work shift! :)

Hi Bryamm,

Welcome to UKVAC. I edited the title slightly, hopefully so an ID owner will notice the thread. We've got quite a few members who have had this in the past but the ones I recall have been down south. Someone like Oll or Setch should be along soon to give you an idea of cost or what you'd need to build one.

Good luck,
tim

A large number of initialD cabs have been converted to OutRun2 over recent years as this game just makes more money for operators. I'm sorry to say I have done this myself, taking two iD1 singles to make a twin OR2.

It's not all bad news though as I do also have a single iD1 cab running any off the first three versions. It will stay this way as although OutRun is my first love I do think the initialD games are great fun to play and are a totally different challenge to OR.

You're welcome to drop in for a blast if you're ever passing through Gloucestershire - I need to get the monitor sorted first though!

Sounds like you need to get yourself a cab

They do change hands fairly regularly so don't think it's out of the question. Two singles sold on ebay for £650 each only a couple of weeks ago..

I have an upright and a sit down I play Initial D on, sorry but I'm not anywhere near you.

As Gary said they do change hands quite frequently but prices are rising all the time. £500 should get you something that may need a little sprucing up.

The other alternative is getting something like a Crazy Taxi, Jambo Safari or Club Kart upright which you can get Initial D running in, these all pop up on eBay a lot and can be had for as little as £200 on a good day.

Plenty of us here are into our Sega Drivers so I'm sure if you do manage to track one down we can provide all the help you need.

Perhaps when you have squirrelled away some ££ put up a wanted add and if anything pops up we can send you the links.

Enjoy your stay here

thanks alot guys! :)

the suggestions are amazing here but it'd definitely have to be a sit-down machine...gotta have the seat, the steering wheel, gearstick, pedals....everything.

I'll definitely be looking into this soon enough! but for the time being it seems to be nothing more than a dream which my low paid job really cannot chase, yet.

i'll most likely put a wanted up and perhaps buy it in parts i'd like a little guidance on this seeming it would be my first ever cab build! :)

quoting the words of that half man/machine type fellow some of us will know....

"I'll be back...."

You're not too far away from me, sadly ID is not a game I own (or played really, same for any card reader games, ops never seemed to have any) You are very close to an arcade op (if you can call them that) with Arcade warehouse, they are generally frowned on for some of their actions but they do come across quite a lot of cabs, could be worth a chat as long as you stipulate a few things to them.

Oh, just thought, you're not that far away from Mo @ videotronics (who's just joined) I know he has a few Sega sitdowns (and others) in his stock.

i've walked past Arcade warehouse many times they never seem to have much....plus one time i didn't really like the way they were unloading a cabinet into their warehouse so i really doubt i'd purchase anything from then other than maybe some artwork?

i've checked out videotronic that looks very interesting i'm gonna just have to keep searching :) thanks zed!

yes you should! honestly! i loved that game it'd be brilliant to see some dotted around!
many coins would be spent! i goto local seaside arcades purposely searching for things like that....

i must say as much as i love outrun it does not provide the same challenge and fun i get from playing initial D, the game just draws me in! i remember one day at my local arcade i spent £80 on the machine....thats how much i liked it, birthday money well spent!

i also loved playing a game called "Ghost Squad" with my friends! i still have my cards for that too...and Dinosaur king! we used to have like weekly meetups to try and beat some levels on ghost squad as teams with certain gun/armor setups! :)

there was also this Sega game that you used football cards for? and you managed the team?
every time you put coins in it'd spit out a card you could play? not sure of the name....maybe someone does :) ??

anyway i'm glad i'm sparking interest in something i loved as a young one...or "Younger" one haha!
i'd love to see someone convert a cab preferably local,

but hey...i'm just happy someone would be converting something back into something i'd strongly approve of!
