Leaf Button - Spring replacement

Evening All,
Refurbishing an Electrocoin control panel which is in a poor state.
I wondered if anyone could recommend a replacement spring which could be used in a leaf buttons ?

Try soaking the spring in white vinegar. Failing that, I would guess that a spring from a modern leaf button would fit.

That conical spring looks rusted to pieces and no amount of vinegar will revive it

It’s not essential that a tapered conical spring is fitted. You can get away with rejector return springs from the entry slot of s10 mech assemblies as they ar light duty, or even springs from inside starpoint fruity Hold buttons though may have to be shortened a bit to allow the button to travel far enough to activate the leaf contact ( which is why they are conical so when compressed go real flat). Button needs a good clean … was it in a swamp for months?

Thanks for the reply. Indeed these were DOA !
The Conical Springs are so brittle and most disintegrated that they can only be replaced . The buttons are translucent red and blue with a faint cross and original to the Arkanoid panel so wanted to make the buttons good again and refit .
I can borrow the conical springs from other leaf buttons but it has been something I have been meaning to look at buying a stock of so thought to ask. Thanks Gents !

The translucent buttons with a cross in the plastic originated on Universal cabs… you are not alone seeking them for replacement. You may have to resort to a different brand?

Oh, if the spring is broken, then it's done for. Vinegar isn't miraculous. Lol

Ah interesting ! I have not come across them often so will sort them out tomorrow with some borrowed springs .

I have a big bag of springs from standard buttons, type that are same diameter for whole spring, could probably alter them to conical shape maybe wrapping it around a cone drill

Should be able to get them from pinball suppliers fairly easily.

Will look into that as wasn’t sure if spring buttons were still being made but can imagine there is demand from pinball also.
Always a tricky balance of being as authentic as possible while being economical with any arcade refurbing.

No vinegar required for the one on the left , flaked apart like crispy shallots .
Put all the others through dishwasher and came out well (right)
Now to find the springs . 7-9

it must have had plenty of coke or other drinks spilt in those buttons for the springs to end up like that, I was going to try with a standard spring to alter it but I'm not sure where the big bag of them is lol, can't find anything here but there all new ones
