LOCKS

Hi all,

I need to buy locks for all my machines as im fed up with the back doors and front doors falling off or opening and smashing various bones whenever i move the cabs !

does anyone have a good source ? i guess i need around 100, want mixed not keyed same. also can anyone tell me the size for the locks, they are all for vids and i guess they are a different size to the fruity ones ?

I bought a set of 5 off ebay, they were all keyed the same, which was great as it was for the 1 machine.

100 is quite a chunk though

I seem to remember the locks vary at least in terms of the length of the barrel so if you buy the 'long' type they might foul the back of something inside the cabinet (you can space them out with a locknut on the outside but it's ugly). Some types you can remove the key when its either open or locked and others only when it's locked. You can usually swap the cam round on the back to cater for which way you want to rotate the lock, I seem to recall there is more than one type of 'tab' for the back as well so there are quite a few variations to consider. I don't know if they are the cheapest but I'd consider using someone like brent or Suzo/Happ for this and see if you can get a bulk order. Someone mentioned on list the other week that places like CPC also do basic vending locks. Oh, and fruities/videos/pinball generally do (or at least up to 2004 which was the last time I looked at a new game) accept the same type of locks.

If you can wait until the new year, you could do worse than Andy at www.PinballMania.co.uk, he supplies the pinball community, and can do bulk with the same key as he did it at the pinball show. I'm not sure if pinballs use same depth locks, but worth an ask.

I see this is a oldish post but if anyone has locks with no keys I can usually make them, I can also source locks but not sure if i could ever match the prices on ebay, as they cost me more trade.

I can also cut keys to code, patter, re key and key alike locks.

Hmm, I might have to go hunting under the stairs. SOMEWHERE (I think I've still got it) I've got a box of what must be about 100 barrel locks. They're the kind that you can supposedly set the key to be any one of 10 different keys. At least I think it's something like that.

The trouble is, none of the keys in the box fit any of the locks in the box and despite the fact you're meant to be able to change them, I've never been able to work out how!!

I may have binned them though
