Are you satidfied with its multimedia? Looks not good in YouTube reviews.
its fantastic

get in, recognises my phone and just starts playing my tunes from spotify right away

i also did a jigsaw on it while waiting for my daughter to finish college the other week

i'm not sure what people expect from a car, but satnav and music integration is probably the only thing i think is required now, anything else is a bunos

Dam..
new mustang or old ?
2023, i've only had it 6 months, some dickhead in an Audi piled into the wife as she stopped on a dual carriageway, swapped details, then promptly undercut her and sped off

was kind of hoping that was a car i was keeping for many years, bit of a dent in the finances that one

Main thing is (hopefully) nobody was injured. Cars can be fixed or replaced and with luck the insurance claim will be relatively painless. Write offs can actually be simpler than repairs

I had a BMW written off about 3 years ago. Getting they claim agreed and negotiating the settlement only took a couple of weeks. Did take me about 9 months of arguing to get the other drivers insurer to admit liability though (but I treated that more like of hobby to be fair 😁)

the other driver is with the same insurer thank god, and its a clear case of, look at the front of your car, look at the back of mine

just a huge pain in the ass to get a courtesy car(which probably wont be electric) and then get a new car, plus the value of my car seems to have dropped a lot, so to replace it like for like i would be losing a few K by the looks of it..and most have a lot more mileage

HUGE PITA for me, wife has already asked me how long it will take for them to send a car, the accident only happened at 16:30 FFS

They should match spec & mileage when agreeing the value or replacement. I turned down the first offer and then has a meeting with their loss adjuster and got about 30% more than the initial offer (although I had the opposite problem as my car had very high mileage and most on the market had low miles). I did get offered a rental straight away but I turned that down as to be honest I didn’t feel much like driving at the time.

Agree with all the above.

From my experience when your car is confirmed a write off, the insurers are pretty reasonable.

The first settlement offer is just that, an offer. If you think it’s too low, let them know. Last time I sent them links to some auto trader ads, approved used, same spec and mileage and they agreed the higher settlement with 2 days.

I’ve also had a first offer that was far more than I expected, so it could be painless.

Oh ffs !! I only just court up and the thread and noticed you had brought one , I agree with the BellEnd comment I think most audio drivers think the rules are different for them ! (Sorry Audi Drivers on here ! lol).

Car looked nice as well, Any pics of the damage (Just out of interest).

Time to get another one now then !

Dave.

i do have pics but i'm not going to post them on the internet, it doesn't look too bad but seen as though the rear is damaged and the bumper has been dislodged, i'm guessing its going to be classed as structural damage, which is an instant write-off

managed to smash the rear parking camera out of the bumper

nobody was seriously hurt, which is the main thing

All that matters if people are ok , Cars can be replaced people cant !

They tend to write electric of as the batteries could be damaged and that a massive part.

Good luck with all mate anyways,

Dave.

Right then love, let's sort this negative equity mess out properly. It's more common than you'd think and definitely nothing to be ashamed about. Cars lose value like nobody's business especially in those first couple of years when you're mostly paying interest rather than actually owning more of the motor. Car Plus has helped loads of folks in similar boats with sensible solutions. They're quoting around 21.9% representative APR for typical deals with monthly payments working out to £185.33 on seven thousand pounds borrowed. You'll end up paying back over eleven grand total but that includes the credit costs of £4,119.81. Most lenders will stretch to 125% loan to value ratios so there's wiggle room. Say you owe five grand but the car's only worth three and a half thousand that's fifteen hundred quid negative equity that can often be rolled forward into your next deal.
Talking about EVs I guess that Mercedes looks the most promising among them.

I did think about this thread the other day as I've gone back to bangernomics.

Still got the nice cars, but I wound up with an inherited low-mileage Golf diesel I couldn't sell so I fixed it (injectors, timing belt etc) and added to the fleet.
This year has cost me many thousands in tyres (wear, punctures) repairs, warranties, tax, insurance with the nice cars, that having a shitbox you don't have to:
stare down at the road to slalom around potholes
park as far away from door dingers as possible
avoid even a tiny kerb for fear of trashing an alloy/low-profile tyre

.. is actually quite liberating.

When the entire tax+insurance of the Golf is less than one tyre for the other cars, it's worth it for all the round-the-doors I have to do with kids and care homes. Fuel/electricity is the least of the outgoings.
Not much fun though, but I've realised lots of driving around town on crap roads is never fun in any car.
