So looking for some advice from people who know more about cars than me, which will be most of you i imagine

Currently have a 2018 Ecoboost Ford Focus and i have never really liked it, bit small, not enough ooomph and its not a very comfortable drive

Looking at getting a car from about 2-3 years ago, not massive mileage and possibly looking at electric options

So far the following have caught my eye, i am obviously on a budget, but am flexible, looking to pay no more than say £24k if possible

Polestar 2
Kia EV6
CUPRA Born
Hyundai Kona
MG M4
Kia Sportage
MG 7S
BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe

Thoughts?

I'm not sure there's any such thing as a "shit" car these days really? Of the list, nothing jumps out as anything to particularly avoid (although I despise the MG cars from a design perspective). Of all those, the Polestar 2 looks like good value to me in the used market currently.

I've had 6 cylinder petrol for over 13 years now across 3 cars I don't think I'm ever going to change.
My local dealer tried to get me to "upgrade" from my 2.5 V6 RWD car to a FWD 4 pot hybrid I'm like how is that even a upgrade.

Isn't that true for all cars? Depreciation is a factor in any car purchase unless you're buying a classic you don't plan on actually driving.
indeed, i have been quoted £1400 to replace a wet cam belt, not that it needs changing yet but so many moving parts that can fail on non electric vehicles is pushing me down the EV route

plus, i was always worried about the mileage out of them, but a quick google tells me i get 220 miles per tank(£65) from my current car, i can get around 300(so lets say about the same as the petrol car) for a full charge on an EV, plus my wife can charge it for free in her work

i will gladly run a car into the ground if im being honest, my current car has depreciated in value by around 1.5k per year, and that is without repairs

don't get me wrong, i will always have my eyes on a Mustang, my dream car, but this is one for family holidays and work

Guy at work has a Kia EV6 & in the year he's had it the range has dropped quite a bit & falling & he was also saying it drops about 50 miles just for putting the heating on so what's it going to be like in 5 years?
It's a lease car so not his problem & he's looking to getting the Toyota equivalent when its up as he previously had a C-HR & loved it.

yeah, i am factoring into that the maximum mileage is going to drop by at least 50-75 miles due to things being on, still matches my petrol car now though

Do what I did ... and get a nice old supercar/sportscar for next to nothing, that's in top nick.
So looking for some advice ...
... ...
Thoughts?
It's likely that the cost of it (plus upkeep / insurance / etc) will either average out about the same price ... or much, much, better.

Plus you won't have to worry about all that Road Tax, MOT, ULEZ, stuff (for any UK city) ... with the added bonus that this means that almost all your costs / admin are reactionary ... rather than requiring active planning, thought, etc. So there's less brain ache! ;-)

Hopefully it's clear that this response is semi-jovial, and definitely light in tone ... but ... I looooooove my old motor ... and I largely know 🐶:poop: about cars. 😏

Isn't there something similar in Bristol prob be every city eventually.
i always go into my city centre on the train, car parking charges have dictated that for me

anyway, EV owners, how much does the AC and heating use the battery, just need to know if i need to order some shorts or Oodies for my travels
