finally after much searching driving myself nuts about what to buy i have the pulled the trigger and the log cabin 5x3 meter is on order

birthday present

concrete base being started on monday morning ,im not doing it

pictures to follow as we progress this is the space by back fence central position .

i dont actually know about the best options for getting power to the man cave ,should i go in through the floor as in have armoured cable through the concrete base or in through the side of the cabin ?

Did my armoured through the wall as it was easier, plus it's one less damp problem to worry about.

looked at a lot of different retailers but in the end got it from dunster house 45mm wall thickness double glazed windows and double opening door ,options can make it expensive didn't take their insulation options ,got my own for floor and roof options 50 mm celotex .

I've looked at Dunster, looking around 6m x 5m, just because I need room for a pool table in there aswell. How deep is your concrete base? I was thinking about putting mine on pad stones.

concrete base is 4 inches deep dunster are just up the road from me so seemed an easier option than others

Really don't want to come across as pooping on the effort. But with outbuildings there are planning permission and building regs . I thought if the building is combustible materials ( or that nature) it cannot be less than 1 meter from a boundary ? I could be wrong but something also no higher than 2.5 meter if within 2 meter .I'm planning one like yours so just trying to get the info together now myself.

Good effort! Did mine last year, similar size, similar cabin type structure. I went with a rubber roof to help keep the damp out and had the roof insulated during build. Also insulated walls and floors with celotex and put in an extra ply layer in the floor to cope with 200kg machines being dragged about. Had walls and ceiling plastered for good measure. Last was the flooring, carpet tiles which are cheap, hard wearing, look good and easy to fit or replace.

The whole thing is heated using a single panel heater with a thermostat and it's been toasty warm all winter. If it wasn't full of broken cabinets I could sleep in it!

One thing I regret was placement of switches - put them high on the wall so you can reach without pulling out the machines! I'm have to work around this now with remote control plugs as I had them placed near the floor.

Anyway good lick, look forward to seeing what you end up with, and how you fill it.

That`s a good point will have to look at the placement of plugs and cabs when its finally built .

Ordered one a similar size, mines got a small shed on one side though. I wish my garden was that big though. When you you expect it to arrive? I'm building mine myself but they are doing the foundation, they are doing multiple 1' pads though.

I was looking at doing Pads, do you know the distance the pads are going to be apart?

No, I will try find out though, the company I bought from recommended this over a complete pad for airflow
