I’ve just got a Genesis 3 (US late release of a mega drive)

I want to get a flash cart like an ever drive for it, but they seem unavailable now, but there are loads of knock offs on eBay?

Has anyone got one they’d recommend?

I have a Krizz Everdrive X7 which is great, but as you mentioned out of stock. Runs all MD, Master System and 32X games (with add-on).

I've not tried it, but Terraonion's Mega SD is apparently even better, primarily because it can run Mega CD games. Without a Mega CD add-on. It's pretty amazing to be able to play all those games without worrying about the ticking time bomb that is the Mega CD.

Of course the price reflects that, as is typical with Terraonion. I'd still argue it's good value, much like their PCE version that also plays CD games.

This is in stock, and it's the one I have. I understand retrotowers to be an authorised reseller of Krikzz stuff.

Oh the Genesis 3 is the worst of the consoles

mono only output and not compatible with Master system converter, Mega Cd or Virtual racing

and no RGB out either

you can however mod it to work with stereo, Rgb and MS and VR carts

and the Terror onion cart will work on it too with mods!

I have a boxed one and thats where it will stay!

It’s a great machine. The composite output looks lovely on my pvm and I don’t give two farts about stereo or 32x.
The everdrive x3 can play SMS games too.

I think the sms mod is still required on the Genesis 3 before the Everdrive can play sms games on it.

its just a single wire to hook up to the cartridge port.

if you got lucky and got the VA1 version of the Gen3 then you can pretty much do everything with it, if it's a VA2 then you are more limited as Majesco sales cheeped out on the chip that runs the show, these are not made by Sega!

you can tell which version you have by looking though the cartridge port, if you see a large diamond shaped chip its a VA2

I have a Mega SD. The customer service is dog turd and the unit feels a little wonky, with the SD slot being awful, but can't fault the operation. All in all I prefer it to the Krizz models I used to own. I've had both X3 and an X7 and promptly offloaded both after getting the TA unit. Be prepared for a £50 import hit though. I’m happy with the Everdrive and don’t care about the CD games you can play on the SD units.

I would like to get SMS games running with it though...
