Hoping to finally, finally get a MiSTer set up soon and wondering what people recommend by way of HDMI monitors. I’d like a rotatable display for shmups - never could justify buying a Cave board only to watch myself instantly and repeatedly die on these bullet hell beauties!

Saw the Asus ProArt PA248QV mentioned a while back but would be grateful to hear what others are using. Did think about investing in a new TV (LG C1) and just hooking it up to that but aside from the costs I think I’d like to get some ZipStiks for Amiga action eventually, so probably going to be desk-based.

Thanks for any advice.

I have an eizo flexscan 2133, it’s 4:3, have it set up to rotate. (It’s DisplayPort but just have an adapter for hdmi). They come up cheaper on eBay from time to time. You can use a crt too right with io board -
I have vga to scart retrogame cable > scart Sony trinitron - mister is really great for consoles , found myself wanting to put those games on crt.

My experience so far with MiSTer, is that it absolutely needs to be used with a CRT. If you manage to find an HDMI solution that isn't laggy as heck and jittery with tearing scrolling, then you've done better than me.

For what it's worth, I think if you've spent the money on a nice FPGA setup to get things as accurate as possible, it's all pointless if you then use it on a modern HDMI screen. In that case, might as well just use a raspberry pi with mame on it.

Thanks. A CRT is a no-go simply due to space unfortunately.

How does the Eizo monitor perform, any noticeable graphical issues or lag? Recent Eizo monitors are way out of my budget but there are older ones reasonably priced on eBay, and I’m assuming there aren’t really any “poor” Eizo models?

Thanks for the input in any case.

I get that with the space for crt. The one I have is great never noticed any issues but I’m not eagled eyed on that stuff. I think it was someone on here who put me on to that particular model as it’s 4:3 aspect ratio. It wasn’t cheap but it was nothing like retail or eBay prices. Sure there are other options too, seen lists out there and one downside is it has no speaker so have to do audio through a speaker. Currently sat here doing a fresh install on another sd as I think the last mister update did something to my old one!!

Yes I remember another member recommending an Eizo monitor too…£600+ though, hopefully you grabbed a bargain somewhere?! Lack of speakers not a problem but something else to think about! Will keep an eye out on now I’ve got some idea of what to look for - thanks for all the advice.
