Hi all.

I have a MTC 9100 with degaussing issues. Upon closer inspection someone has snipped the wires :(

So it's safe to say that this is a good starting point

.

I'll be honest and say (normally) as a rule I don't mess with monitors, I nearly killed myself once. My current situation is I need (if I can) to fix this myself.

So fixed the snipped wire problem and added a degause switch.

When carrying out the repair I noticed a wobbly thing :), the thing between my nice new plugs. Now on the schematics....

It's a PTC1? It LOOKS like some kind of choke. Would anyone be able to tell me what it is or does please? I can't keep calling it a wobbly thing :).

As always, any help is much appreciated.

Cheers

John

thermal switch, thermistor, ptc( positive thermal coefficient)

Thanks :), you know where I could get such an item? I'm assuming (hoping) this is why my degaussing isn't working?

Had a search and came to this:

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/191896277441

This do the job?

Cheers

I just bought one of those, it doesn't fit but you can mash it in.

I would check your de-gaussing isn't working first by connecting a lightbulb to the CD connector like I did here.

Hi sorry, whats the CD connector? Do you mean the CE connector? I'm not 100% how it all works, I THOUGHT that the 240v was applied when you pressed the button. Does 240 AC travel around it all the time? Can't I test with meter instead of a bulb? :)

Cheers

Sorry, you have a different PCB to my Hantarex chassis. Was your coil connected to CE before? Read through my saga, I probably didn't need to change my original PTC for a component which doesn't fit properly so I'd advise you just do the same test I did to see if your monitor coil is receiving the charge for the degauss.

My PTC is hanging off so 100% needs replacing. After this we will see if it works. I got to your post on my search :). I need a replacement.......
