The special SW T-molding is about 2+ inches wide so isn't going to be suitable if you're after standard 1 inch T-molding. All I can think of at the moment is to look for grooved T-molding and then paint up the stripes! Going to be a bit of work but it should be a really nice finishing touch. I've been doing some touch-up work with some fine paint brushes and with a bit of effort it's actually not that tricky.

Good luck, and if you find a source then please post back.

I'm not actually touching up any of the T-molding (yet: I think I can source BNIB for all that I need) but my other touch-up work is using artists brushes and acrylic paint (car body paint from Halfords) sprayed into the can cap to give me some liquid to work with.

It's been very effective and I think you'd be able to use it on T-molding as long as you did it when the molding had been installed otherwise I think you'd crack it. I'm doing some paint work now so will put some test layers on some spare T-molding and let it dry to see how it handles being bent. Given that it's acrylic paint and it takes a good few days for the solvent to fully evaporate and the paint to harden, there may be a longer window available between painting and installing than I anticipate, so you may be able to pinstripe it and then install.

I'll do the tests later on today and post back over the weekend to report any success or failure.

Not having much luck with this guy. Mailed him through ebay initially with my requirements, he mailed me back with a conversion to feet and said "mail info@blahblah" which I did along with the hope that I could get this sorted and delivered before the w/e so I could do some resto and I've heard nothing back from him since.

I'm going to chase him again as it doesn't look like there are (m)any other sources around, but his customer service isn't making me shine just yet.

Just to follow up on this, I got my order sorted shortly after the last post above. When it turned up I was slightly disappointed as some parts of the t-molding looked like they'd been left to scrape around on a concrete floor as the length was measured out, so they have greyish scuff marks.

So unless I'm really lucky when it comes to cutting the individual pieces I might need to go over parts with fine abrasive paper and then perhaps polish up with some Novus. Will be doing some test pieces when I get time.

He also gave me his "outside of ebay" discount which worked out nicely, so I'd give a thumbs up to this seller but bear in mind you may have to send a chase email or two to get the order underway, but despatch is nice and rapid.

cheers

Haha - I just seen your signature Tim. How the f**k do you lose a boxed monitor.

I thought all I was waiting for was for you to find your gloves and have a quick swig of scotch. Just as well I'm so busy any way otherwise the boys would have been down weeks ago.

Any way, you're not the only slack bastard about. This T-Molding guy. Did you buy yours from http://ukt-molding.co.uk/ ? I emailed him and queried price to which he replied straight away. I then ordered some and paid the guy by paypal on 24th Dec and despite a couple of prompts he has still not sent me anything, not even acknowledgement of my payment or any replies to my emails.

So I've just started a paypal claim to see if that gets him moving. I notice he's not advertising on ebay at the moment either.

In case it comes to nothing, is there anywhere else recommended for good price & service on this stuff. I'd rather not use ArcadeWorldUK if possible as I have issues with them from another experience.

I'll send you a pic of my storage areas when I've found it ;)

As for your t-molding question, it seems that spanner_T is the guy I successfully bought my plain black SW molding from. I recall having to chase him a little bit but then it arrived. The email I used to contact him was info@ukt-molding.co.uk.

cheers

Yes that's the same email address I've been trying.

Maybe he will come good but I hope he hurries up - I need my Outrun sorted and physically out of the way so I'm ready to get this new monitor in when it comes ;-)

It seems my pending paypal claim spurred Mr T into action. I got a parcel of t-molding in the post today and also a message from paypal saying he had provided shipping details now so do I want to stop my action against him.

Result (eventually) but I don't think I will be using him again.

Good result! He was somewhat sluggish when I dealt with him but an email got his ass in gear. Not sure where I'd go for my next lot though as it seems he's the only UK supplier?

Don't burn your bridges yet mate, as Tim says, where else is there in the UK. I bought a large amount of 3/4" leather effect from this guy sometime ago, no problems at all. I paid, it came, I installed it all within a week.

Andy.
