love it so far and been testing it in and out of my jamma machine. One thing I’m having to do though to change game is to turn the machine off and on, which is ok while I’ve got it opened for testing but not ideal.
how do I get back to the OSD menu or reset? Can I map buttons somehow I.e. in groovymame ive got P1+P2 mapped so it takes me back to the menu when they’re pressed together.

On the normal Mister I think it’s F12. Hopefully you can plug one of those Super tiny blue tooth keyboards as they are super handy for mister.

Thanks - got the keyboard method and have one of those, but is there no way to do it without any external control input i.e. just from buttons on the machine? I don't mind if I have to add another one. just can't see how to do it.

Good afternoon, Just after some advice. I have a mister multisystem jamma on its way to me, which I am very excited about! I just wanted to check I am ready to plug it in when it arrives? I have checked my Jamma harness connector and some of the wires look like they are in different places to what a standard jamma pin layout is (see image). View attachment 64096Also a couple of the voltages are a little bit off (see image) I assume they are doing the correct things because at the moment I have a Neo geo one slot board plugged in and all working fine. The cabinet is a Lordsvale neo geo cab and I am pretty sure the cabs wiring is for a multi slot mvs board. Hope this all makes sense as I am still learning. Thanks

You can do this from the sub menu (back button) look for Define Joystick Buttons, and go through the setup and eventually you'll get to the menu button you can define a button or a pair of buttons for Menu. you'll want to plug in a keyboard for the inital set-up to skip all the mouse and analogue sticks stuff

Does anyone know if any adaptors are, or will be made available to allow the Multisystem 2 to be plugged into a dedicated cabinet such as Outrun? It could be great to play the Outrun Arcade core in a proper cabinet + others like Powerdrift etc, which I see are coming out, or at least they will be soon.

Yes, Heber Ltd. produces premium, all-in-one multigame systems designed to fit right into original arcade cabinets via the standard JAMMA wiring harness.[1]
If you are looking to run driving/racing games on these multi-boards, they have specifically engineered their hardware to support the analog controls (like steering wheels, pedals, and shifters) required for those games. [1]
They have two main hardware options that support driving controls:

1. Heber Multisystem² Arcade (FPGA-Based)
The Heber Multisystem² Arcade is an incredibly advanced, low-latency system powered by MiSTer FPGA technology. [1, 2]
    • Driving Game Support: It features built-in expansion capabilities via an integrated CTRLDock to accept analog steering wheel inputs and pedal controls. [1, 2]

The user guide is not as long as it looks. Very well written. The code is for the controls.

Thanks for highlighting this. The Player bindings are really useful to do in the Mister.ini file as they lock Player 1,2,3 & 4 to the same outputs for every core.
This is important as MiSTer O/S software will just assign Player 1 to whatever control interface is pressed first. Not ideal for Arcade machines when you want player 1 on the left and Player 2 on the right.
We have set mappings for the controls as per JAMMA, so Start is start, Select is coin, player movements and action buttons are all mapped the same.
You can set player control changes at a global level, this is done by using the main MiSTer menu - Use a keyboard and press F12 - and select Define joystick buttons -
You can remap if desired and also select a button combination for the MiSTer Menu.
We do also have a dedicated internal Menu select connector on the board (P11). This is preferred if you need a hidden menu button, mounted on the top or under the control panel for example so it's not accidentally pressed.
On the board you will see three 2 pin headers you can connect dedicated switches too - P10 (User), P11 (On screen display / Menu) and P12 (Reset) - Hardware reset of the system.

Also be aware that some older Arcade cores use a slightly different control mapping, so you may need to re-map some of the buttons in the core itself to get back the 'standard' control scheme - For example some cores use the extended buttons 8 & 9 for coin and start, where most new cores use Select for coin and start for start.

We are looking at this. I hope we can have a few simple adaptors to the correct wiring scheme for system types.
We will have a dedicated breakout board for connecting Atari Gauntlet 4 player and Konami Simpsons/Turtles) to the original control panel connectors.
Outrun and similar need a bit more thought, but we do have a wiring setup for Atari Roadblasters and also a slightly modified Roadblasters FPGA core that supports the original controls - https://github.com/Heber-co-uk/Arcade-Atari-system1_MiSTer
We hope to do more of these. We are planning to do Marblemadness and Paperboy and also modify the Arcade cores to use original control hardware.

if it is like my 4-slot it is not wired to JAMMA. From memory it is sound thing to do with the way the sound signal is wired.

On my one slot there is a toggle switch between JAMMA and MVS that I change depending on which cab i put it in.

I used to use a simple adapter to use JAMMA boards in my MVS cab.

It’s probably a simple solder job on your connector if you wanted to do something robust.

All the motion DLX cabinets seem to do things differently, which doesn't help. Limit switches, potentiometers, different drive PCBs etc, so you might end up needing a different interface PCB for Powerdrift, Outrun, Galaxy Force....
I've mapped in I/O for a few more games in my motionmame build on github, should that be of any use for anyone adding motion to FPGA cores (seeing as they're often just MAME C++ reworked into Verilog).
