NES 72 pin connector info

Just a bit of info for anyone who has a NES and has the blank screen / blinking light issue.

Don’t bother buying a “new”
72 pin connector from eBay. Utter crap!
Got it out the box and the connector was bowed and although the pins looked ok, the cartridge was very hard to get back out.

I ended up just cleaning the old connector pins with electrical solvent switch cleaner and a fibre glass brush, put it back in and it works every time.

True story. You can clean up the old ones quite well and even push the contacts back together with a fine tool. I tend to do the region-free mod whilst the console is open too.
