vib_ribbon some things are more complex as I haven't set up every game in MAME or anything but the gist is right: add roms and play away.

that's fair, i don't expect you to have tested every single game. so everything comes to AU$242 incl UK delivery (= approx GBP130).

i'll drop you a PM. thanks again for your responses and putting together this nifty little device.

I'd be tempted, was going to try and hack a pandora to put some extra games on but this looks a better alternative. Group buy for the UK anyone?

New updated 3.1 version of the ARpiCADE software now available for
download! This one is ten parts (sorry, I know thats a pain these
days), as always if anyone with a fast internet connection feels like
uploading a single file version it would be appreciated.

Improvements over the beta release:
- better config for Daphne, roms and framefiles in /boot should now work without messing about.

- improved MAME2003 (mame078) retroarch file setup, dip switch settings
and other bits should now save on exit. Roms are now put into
/boot/roms/mame-078 in the same way as all other emulators work instead
of the unique setup it had before.

- system logging and caching has been moved into ram, further reducing unwanted writes to the SD card.

- experimental extra version of mame4all for 3x scalling and running
rotated games fullscreen (this was an attempt to duplicate the ArcadeSD
way of running moon patrol on a vertical monitor, uses same config file
as normal mame4all, eventually both versions will probably be merged
into one).

- general tidy up of the ext partition, more space available now.

I'm aiming to update the software instructions for the new features next
week. I'm hoping for now this version will act as a base I can provide
updates for as uploading full images is a real pain on my connection.

Woot my board arrived. Here are a few questions for Dylan or anybody
in this time zone that might have experience with the setup.

* Which way do the 4 DIP switches go for a 3 button JAMMA cab?

* My vertical games fill the entire (horizontal) screen, but my

horizontal games look like a narrow vertical game in the middle

of the screen.

* There is a little 2way jumper extender on the JAMMA board that

looks like it might want to connect to two holes on the RaspPi3.

Not sure what to do with that.

* How do I exit a game (without a keyboard)?

Well it looks like it's not every horizontal game that is too narrow.
Kung Fu master and popeye looked good. Banku Panicu and ghosts

and goblins are narrow.

Thanks Swisstoni for the PM. Button3+1P_start to exit. The jumper

should connect through to allow the reset button to work.

How do you get six buttons/player from these - are they wired to the jamma edge, or is there a kick harness?

.. I just tried trawling through that 53 page Australian thread, but still couldnt see an answer..

cheers

Works either way, the dip switch changes pin 27/e between ground and b6.

Switches 1&2 on 3&4 off = normal JAMMA
switches 1&2 off 3&4 on = 6 buttons on JAMMA
all off = floating pin
all on = trouble (b6 for both players will be perma on)

.. you need a wiki dude, save yourself from answering stupid questions from people like me all the time!

in fact, here are two more; (I either didnt get a kick harness with mine, or more likely - i've misplaced it!)

so if I want to use the kick harness - I take it thats the six pins near the ribbon connector, so I would set dips 1&2 on 3&4 off, take a ground from somewhere, and is it buttons 456 1p, 456 2p from the pin nearest the ribbon connector out?

thanks!

This image shows the pinout of the kick harness (it's a v2 board but is the same on v3)

Pretty sure I sent you a harness, sorry if I did not. It's a Molex 2.54mm 6 way housing and 30-22awg crimp pins if you need to build one.

Thanks Dylan, the board is working well.

It came pre-set for normal JAMMA but I wasn't sure.
Any thoughts on how to resolve the narrow screen area for some of
the horizontal games?

If you're running in advmame you could try setting those games to fractional scaling (boot with keyboard in load game and hit 'tab' to access mame settings) although the results won't look perfect it may look good enough.

Or you could configure the pi to run at a resolution that better suits the games you want to run.

Or move those games to a different emulator and see how that goes. The retroarch emulators (mame 078 and fba) scale to odd resolutions very cleanly for instance.

I've updated the instructions a bit for the v3 board and the 3.1 software.

software instructions can be found here: https://drive.google.com/open?id=1Iq...s2bpBaOq5SDUSA (more updates coming soon)

RaspberryJAMMA V3 board layout: https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B6...21ZUXBSWW5FU2c

How to mount pi to board: https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B6...kJ0MXZNTjEzR2c

Guide to V3 dipswitches: https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B6...zV6QjVxSVZQbmc

Also here's a set of config files for a few different setups to make configuring easier:

And someone found a bug (b2 exits menu) in the current release, seems I
used an old version of the menu in the upload, to fix it overwrite your
admenu executable with this one:

Received today thanks dee2er.
Couple questions maybe someone in the thread can answer?

1. Some games are not filling the width of the screen, example Bubble Bobble, I see other references to it in various threads.

2. I've only added advancemame .106 roms so far, should I add the rom set for mame4all and FB too?

Will each rom show up 3 times in advancemenu or will advance menu know which emulator is best for each rom somehow?
