Hey guys, I have an american NES and need a CRT for it. It's gonna have to support NTSC so I'm thinking my best bet is to find a model that supports PAL and NTSC (e.g. some Sony Trinitrons). Is there any way to tell from the product label if it will support NTSC? Perhaps if it says 60hz (or more likely 50/60hz) on the label? Anyone know the best place to get an NTSC capable CRT in the UK? Is Ebay my best bet or should I try hitting the local second hand shops?

Thanks in advance!

Check freecycle or put up a wanted on your local one. Look for something with a scart socket and made in the mid/late 90s or later. As long as its a half decent make it'll support ntsc / 60hz through rgb scart and most likely composite too.

Sony is one of the best ways to get NTSC full screen. I think all their TV's from mid 1990's that have scart socket with give you a full picture with an import NTSC console at 60Hz. I have a 25" one for my Japanese Neo-Geo home console and the picture is still stunning...

Most of the Sony's will just say 50hz on the back but they will do 60Hz too.
