This week I decided I don’t eat polo mints any more and moreso if it costs me up to £3 to win a pack ?? From this 9 cup allwin flick ball game… so I have adjusted the stack rails to accommodate a longer tube of refreshers.

In emptying the mints from the stack I noticed the first 6 packs were best before 14 July 2011,.. still it’s only sugar and zero moisture …. Still taste fine (well the top up ones 09April 2017 did! ) had to try one!

Maybe I should save them polo mints for when the refreshers run out ? Visitors probably wouldn’t notice the very small print? Would they? 😂😂😂 it’s ONLY 15 YEARS … would just be unlucky to win first flick ? …… Just for fun!

What I need is for someone to have a Wagon Wheel stashed away because as everyone knows, they used to be as big as a babies head.

Exactly. Just like the recent Mars bar from 1991 found. It was compared to the ones we got now and is larger as we already know. Plus the taste and textures changed for the worse on some products..

Definitely Roses and Quality Street changed for the worst. Used to be a real treat getting a large tin of each at Christmas. Now the wrappers, size, taste are all wrong. Tell me I'm wrong..

Yeah, I saw the Mars bar story as well. What I liked was that Mars was quoted in response as saying something like "We were just responding to consumer demand/opinion/criticism", like anyone has eaten a Mars bar and gone "these are really nice, I just wish they cost more and were considerably smaller"

To be fair you can still buy 2kg tins, it's just no one does when they cost £20+ (which is pretty close to being in line with inflation).

Wasn't really so much the size of the tins i was on about, it was the contents. I definitely remember quality streets and roses tasting better, plus the wrappings on the chocolates used to be fun.

Yeah, they were definitely better. To be honest I didn't know about the availability of the big tins myself until a couple of years ago. Thought it was interesting as the supermarkets never have them. Might get on for this Christmas. As long as it has that smell when you open the lid. The tins always came in handy to store crap in after too.

Everything has palm oil now and barely any cocoa solids that it can still legitimately be called chocolate.

You could also just about get a pair of iffy 3D glasses with the red and green wrappers if you didn't mind a bit of branding.

I remember the thrill of thinking you'd found a stash of chocs only to find the tin was full of buttons or curtain hooks or sewing.
