[ukvac] OT: Ebay
Sorry for the off topic posting but it's ebay related. And as most of us
have plenty of experience with ebay thought you might be the best people to
ask :)

Does anyone know if it is against ebays policies to sell something you don't
own yet? I would assume it would be but I've looked through the
documentation and so far can't find anything. I've just won a bid for
something and the guy is now telling me I need to pay and wait as he is
importing from the states. Obviously I'm not going to pay until he has the
item I just wanted to know whether to report him or not.

Again sorry for the off topic posting.

Cheers,
Dan

I'd be more than cautious!

If it didn't CLEARLY say in the auction description about putting the money up
front then basically the guy is trying to sell something that he doesn't own and
I would give a fairly firm "F*CK OFF" to that and report him.

As a general rule of thumb, I will NEVER part with cash for something unles I a)
know the person b) have seen the goods with my eyes and am happy c) am buying
from the usual retail / trusted outlets.

That said, I have on many occasions expected purchasers to do just that (in the
case of the Holland deals), BUT in those cases it more clearly stated over and
over that that was the score.

Sadly it applys more than ever in this game...

Martin.

Very much so, its in the rules and regulations. If he didnt mention he didnt
have the goods in hand at the time of bidding, then report him.

Hmm I remeber reading in the eBay policy somewhere that
it was ok to sell items you did not have at the time of the auction as
long as you
where able to complete the auction within 28 days of it closing.
I may have stipulated that you did have to mention this in
the description

RE: [ukvac] OT: Ebay
Thanks for all the responses on this one. I basically told him where to
stick it and plan to report him to ebay. I still cant find anything
relating to this in the online docs though. They are a real pain to read as
you can only (as far as I can see) get little chunks at a time rather than
one big doc that you could search :|

Thanks,
Dan
