[ukvac] OT: modem sharing?
Hi, totally off topic, and probably a noddy question, but I know someone
here will be able to advise.
I currently have 2 phonelines, both have DSL, so there is a possibility of
2.7Mb DSL connection (512 + 2.2) if I can pool the 2 resources on the same
PC. I have tried running both connections simultaneously on 2 modems with
both my user accounts, but I'm not getting the full speed, and it seems to
be defaulting to 512Mb, even though theres apparently activity on the
2.2Mb line. My email account also seems to default to sending requests on
the second line I connect to, so I have to connect to the relevant ISP last
or I get thrown off.
Any suggestions?

Just quick (cos I'm on my way out...) but you can't just 'dial up' on both
and be able to use them both. You have to establish them as a multi-link
connection and I'm afraid not all connection are able to do it. There are
programs out there which will attempt to do it for you if your ISP won't
allow it - there should be info on google someplace!

Assuming you're using Windows, go into one of the DSL accounts connection
properties and find the option to enable multi-linking (probably in advanced
somewhere) it's been years since I've done this myself so I can't really
advise as my memory is shot to bits now I'm old.
