sorry about the awful res of the shots as from my phone

or_project.jpg

Well I need to post this as it motivates me to start work!

good news this might actually be a worker, not turned it on yet, so I hope its mainly cosmetics

I got it from ebay Germany about 6 weeks ago so if you bid sorry about that

Just need some help from you guys out there...

I need a new wheel
badge
maybe a new gear stick but it might be ok

and advice on:

1. how to fix the gas pedal, where it hinges at the floor one of the hinges has snapped - what can I do?!

2.
as below image the bezel has a mod that I just don't get, unless it is hiding really bad cig burns, why would anyone do this and how do I remove the rivets?!

or_bezel.jpg

This will be a make and mend resto but I think the cab will end up looking pretty good, the side art is actually 90/95% complete, it needs a good clean and careful touch up, but I have no intention of replacing it I don't think.

thanks in advance

thanks

I will try and describe the pedal better and take a photo at some point, basically it's where the pedal is attached to a hinge, which in itself it bolted to the foot base. This hinge point, the hinge is part broken so I can't see how that can be fixed except replaced. I may have a spare pedal somewhere I will check.

I am a bit worried about drilling the rivets but it might be the only way

can't leave it like it is, it looks awful!!

I might have some of the spare parts you need including a wheel. Maybe that weird metal mod was to hold it together, is it cracked?

Cab overall though looks pretty good I'd say.

Hi all

Bensograd that would be great can you pm me?

The bezel from the inside does not appear cracked at all

Its almost like it was done from the factory to strengthen the bezel

Very weird!

spent several hours on this today, did lots of cleaning

worked out whats wrong with the shifter and got a low tech solution I hope works

also fixed the steering, replaced the springs with lights ones

I will need help with the gas pedal most likely - any ideas?!

Do you have a photo of the gas pedal problem.

Hi Ben

its not really possible to photo it, imagine the gas pedal is attached to the front of the foot plate area with 2 security bolts, first of all they have rusted but I can drill them out most likely

so there is a hinge at the front of the pedal to allow up and down movement

there are 2 parts to the hinge and one has snapped, I don't think it is fixable even by welding [I might be wrong, let me know any welders out there?!] so will need another pedal I think?

advice needed for shifter issue

the shifter felt clunky and did not snap into place cleanly

I took it out and lubbed it, it made it smooth but now it won't stay in the up position, gravity puches it back, the lock bearings must have lost soem of their spring power, unless something is missing from the mechanism I am not aware of

I have a planned work around using thick elastic [woman hair bands] but not sure if that will work, the elastic will have to be just the right rating to hold it up but then with pivot weight of the shifter puches down, not be storng enough to pull it back up on its own, if you get my drift?!

Here's a pic I found...

Do your pedals look like this?

Is the break at A or B? If A it's a hinge pin.
If it's at B those are spot welds that have broken, yes those can be rewelded.

In the shifter there is a spring that pushes against a small ball bearing to keep the stick in Hi or Low. Sounds like the spring has rusted and snapped.

Edit

Doh I see you knew that, already.

thanks yes i thought that but then it does spring out but just not hard enough to hold in place

what is worse the screws are flakey, i cant seem to take the aseembely apart without damaging the heads

can't win - I need a new shifter!
