My duo stopped reading cd's, ordered a replacement from China and low and behold it all works
Chuffed!

You know when you think, but it still won't work...but it did

My black duo has had a full cap replacement but for the first 20mins of playing certain sfx are mega quiet
As the console warms up 30 odd mins in all missing sounds return
?
Any ideas

Example in dracula x it's the creaking door noise as you press run to start the game
Also noise made by whip as you press fire
And any voice of character like if they die
Like aaarrrggghhh noise

Try recapping it again - pain in the ass but don't know what else to suggest.
When you changed the laser out did you get the one where they caution to remove the 'solder dot' before installing?

Wtf does it mean, I can't see anything on it like a 'solder dot' :s

I had a similar issue with my Duo after recapping I ended up redoing the audio section again to fix it. It could be a dry solder joint though.

Incidentally eventually my duo stopped playing audio again, probably a bad trace somewhere but after many hours of tinkering I decided life was too short and bought a DUOR I will go back to it one day.
