Pm Email Notifications and Pm slowness

I have noticed since the other day when you did some forum maintenance 2 things are not quite right

1. is that I am not getting email notifications any more when a pm is sent to me. I used to get them just fine within 5 mins of a pm being sent. now I don't get them at not even hours later, they are just not coming in

2. when sending a pm and pressing send the pm really takes ages to decide to send it and then after about 1 min the sent confirmation shows up.

Has this been noticed by others

Yep, getting exactly the same. Really slow to post and no longer getting any email notifications (PMs or watched topics)

i have been booted out completely at times and things like remote server failed ?? messages or is this my poor old pc

but yes sometime it takes ages to send a message or reply. its buffering for ages

i feel guilty now giving the computer a whack, lol

I reported it a while ago and I'll raise it again. It's affecting me badly but for me it coincided with fibre being installed so I wasn't sure if it was just me or not. Clearly it's not.

I've also noticed a massive slow down in general on the site in recent weeks and am also not receiving emails for updates to threads that I'm subscribed to.

Is the 'VAC becoming a victim of its own success? (so many new members/posts that the server is struggling to cope)

Yeah same here, very slow opening PM's and no e-mail notification of PM's

I'll sort it tomorrow guys. The server has loads of capacity so ill perform some SQL optimization. Not sure on the email feature as it routes through another server, but will likely to sort that also.

they usually come

I always rely on my emails to know if I have a pm and they used to come regularly within 5 mins

I have no idea as I seriously don't use emails

I just log in and let the forum tell me

However typing that message the forum did say it was down for maintenance for a bit

Like Oll says, it feels like a discord between the forum and the SQL Sever DB. Let's see where we get to tomorrow...

Just a heads up guys, it sounds like Alpha1 has located the cause and it potentially requires a change in setup to resolve.

Am painfully aware of the impact it is currently having so rest assured we're on the case (OK, that's a lie, Alpha1 is mostly!!) but given the GP is on, I would expect to have to live with it for maybe another day or so yet.

Will get it resolved ASAP...
