There will just be a level up thing. I don't think anything has been finalised yet. For example we spoke about a potential 250 post/point system for the raid i'm sorting (just come off the phone to them now), that has to be there to stop zero posters taking stuff and then never contributing to the forum again.

You may find leveling up will open other things up like more custom skins, easter eggs, that sort of stuff. You know like scoring decent points on say, err, an arcade game an getting your name in the HS table

.

I think it's cool, it doesn't mean anything has to change, but if I get some points for a helpful post or an answer then that's a nice bonus.

Do you mean people with low post counts won't be able to see certain parts of the forum, such as arcade raids and the cabs that are for sale from those raids?

I like the customised skins and icons idea. It's like Street Fighter 4 online. The more you achieve the more titles and icons you get. A very simple, but very effective and fun concept.

I also think the thread rating system is really good also, it shows epic threads and let's people rate them.

Yep, defo to this. We have this on the Honda Accord forum I post on. It's really effective.

Due to suffering from migraines I have to have the colours turned off so custom skins and icons won't work for me.

So far the only change I feel is worthwhile is the answer thingy, I think I need a 'turn off unnecessary features' button instead of all the extra thrills.

I'll speak to Rav and see if we can do an easy to see/read version. pm me any examples or ideas on how this would look colourwise and we'll help if we can.

I'm sorry the current theme is not to your liking - we went with this highly different, highly noticable skin as a different look to make people sit up an notice - and I suppose we should have anticipated that people would like to crticise "looks over lifestyle" - its cool - we have more themes/skins coming in the next couple of days and you can choose the old, new, something different but for the re-launch *I* put my foot down for something unseen and clearly different from before and what else is out there on the net- yes its been "marmite" to a proportion of our regulars- but at least everyones noticed its different!

The talk of "turn off unnecessary features" is disappointing, yet inevitable I guess - theres always going to be the minority who see progress as "boink" (to quote Calvin and Hobbes)... Personally I'm much happier we have a better environment to chat/socialise/integrate/trade with sensible new additions beyond the "answer thingy" - but hey - each to their own hey - some of us clearly only see in black or white it seems

Rav, I didn't say that the current theme is not to my liking. I did not even know there was one!

I clearly stated that I have the colours turned off;

Tools : Internet Options : Accessibilty : Ignore colo(u)rs specified on webpages.

As I have not seen the new skin how can you accuse me of complaining about it?

Can you show me the post in which I did so?

No? I didn't think so.

OK can we turn this down a notch. I guess Rav missed your point about turning off colours in your browser at 1am :)

I think eod the new features are just that - new. We've not taken anything away from the functionality of the previous forum level. The Pac fruits simply replace the old default "stars" that you used to get. We just felt they were a bit more fun, and appropriate to what were about (old arcade games). You're not obligated to use the new features, you can just ignore them and use to forum just as you did before, it's not a big deal. Were just trying to improve things for everyone and therein lies the problem. Whatever we did *someone* wouldn't like it, and thats fine we're all different. We've had mostly positive feedback so I think we did something right for the majority and it sounds like you've found a way to make it acceptable for yourself.

When alls said and done we do appreciate the feedback, both positive and negative so keep em coming.

Cheers,

Dan

I'm done now, Dan, other than to clarify that I have colours turned off across all sites not just UKVAC.

P.S. This page took ages to load just now...
