i have been offered a poleposition upright ,but i am not sure if i schould grabit

itsoff course not working.

are the gameboards kwown too have a lot of problems??

it needs full restautoration.

the price is 50 euro

what do you think

if you like the game id take it,the pcb,s are a tad flaky apparently
mine had a few mods and ran for ages before i sold it

people still repair/sell working sets too

I think if it were local to me, complete and around 50 euros I'd be tempted to buy it.

The monitor might be a Matsush*ta if you are unlucky but I managed to get one up and running despite its reputation for weak tubes and the flybacks are cheap from the US. I think someone has come up with a replacement for game the PCB custom chip too (is there only one?).

Anyhow, any PP owners 'prepared to qualify' a comment?

Pole Position is widely known to have some of the most difficult to repair PCB's. That said mine (a PP2 compact) has been working for about 8 years solid (there that's jinxed it), but mine is running the slightly more reliable Namco boards (instead of Atari ones). There is a guy in the states working on a new replacement board for these but they aren't going to be ready for a few years probably, good news is that when it's done it will be a multigame so you'll have PP and PP2. For 50 euros I'd grab it if it's in nice cosmetic shape (coincidentally I paid £50 for mine), you can either get a working PCB (not cheap, expect to pay 200+ euros), or put a MAME PC in there (without hacking the wiring) so that you can put one of the replacement boards in when they're done.
