my work colleague was just going on about how he loved WEC LeMans 24 by Konami. So I Googled for it to show him a pic and found this picture on Wikipedia:

WECLeMans24.jpg

I noticed it appears to be a UK arcade as there's a Supreme JAMMA cabinet directly behind the WEC LeMans 24.

So I then thought 'cool!', and tried to identify the rest of the games. The next machine totally threw me.

1. It 'appears' to be a Star Wars upright.
2. The top section is nor normal - it has a flat facing marquee. Zooming in on the picture it appears to be original.
3. The marquee appears to be Return of the Jedi.
4. Under the marquee appears to be a blurred illuminated fuji logo /|
5. The game still has the flight yoke.
6. The side art has a red band around it.
7. The tie fighter is not in the correct location, it is more like the proto artwork from the flyer and what Darin printed as the tie fighter is within the border and does not break out.

Here is a pic of an Atari Star Wars to clarify what I mean:

So, what's everyone make of that?

I can't work out what the 2 games are on the back wall either, they look possibly vector.

That looks a tad homemade to me, as you say the marquee is square on rather than sloped back. The cab 2 along also looks like it has the Star Wars Death Star art on it in a similar shape cab.

The vector cab at the back looks a little like Major Havoc/Tempest conversion. Interesting pics for sure :)

It's too well made to be homemade. Doesn't make sense it has the proto arrangement of Tie Fighters either. It appears the lower part of the cab matches a SW UR.

You just don't know your Atari proto stuff as well as me

1. there is no bootleg ROTJ pcb that exists

2. What's with the fuji logo.

3. It's appears to be a cross between a PP and a SW cab. This is exactly what Atari would experiment with.

Ain't no booty here.

Looking at the plug socket that might make it Europe. Maybe Germany, Spain or Italy. Maybe it's a license. Still, weird none have ever turned up.

Don't know much about this, but from the photo I would say it looks like a Spanish arcade. The giveaway is the plug socket to the left of the photo, the tiled floor, and the fag adverts usually in a cafe/snacks part of the arcade (typical Spanish arcade setup). It looks like some Sonic (Spanish cab maker) machines in the background too.

Did Sonic license ROTJ from Atari at all? I know they with did with other manufacturers and the cabs they produced were slightly different.

Anyway could be completely wrong, but that's my 2p worth.
