OK I gotta know, what do you guys think is the best Williams game? For me it's Defender which just edges out Robotron, pure class and still impossible after all these years

Personally, I always loved Joust in the arcades but I owned one some years back and it didn't seem to keep me going back to it so it ended up being sold again (was a PCB)

Defender and Stargate I simply can't play, and I have no experience of the more unusual / exotic games, therefore I'll also go with...

ROBOTRON

(And yep, I would really like one for a sensible price)

I know I'm going to get flack for this, but the only Williams game I've ever played much is Bubbles! I've not seen any Williams cabs in real life so I'm restricted to Mame and I thought Robotron etc required funky joysticks for best impact.

I shall remedy this ASAP and give some of them a try in Mame, but I think otherwise I'll be a Williams virgin until the next meet :)

Part of me wants to say Blaster seeing I own it and its uber cool...

Part of me wants to say Sinistar 'cos the cabs got special memories and hard-core gameplay

Part of me wants to say Defender as we clearly can prove that it is THE retro arcade favourite of the UK. No question about it. Its Iconic, its tough, it rules the waves!

Like Guddler, part of me liked Joust - but that was back in the day and with a pal... as a collector not so much....

So that leads me to Robotron - clearly the most stress-relieving white-knuckle ride and perhaps yeah, I'd say the most addicitive of them all so I'm voting for that :)

From a ture WMs nut.. PS Bubbles is new to me but then Ive only had my cab running a fortnight so its still a new one to me ;)

Narc, Rampage and Smash TV, although not 'classics', were awesome games in their time too.

Ps Tim, I suppose you've never played Space Invaders either? (n00b)

Robotron!

Blaster if i could find one under£1300

phil.

You should buy it, as you won't get another in Europe under £1300... They still sell for $2000 or above in the US.

Is that the one with the 3D video cards and a panorama of monitors? Runs on PC-based hardware?

Late to the party, but obviously for me, Defender

Followed by Robotron & Joust. IMHO Blaster is cra@p and was Williams (sad) attempt at Buck Rogers, yeah the Duramold is cool but the game is pants.

Andy.

@shortass/sunbeam, are you bored ??

I'm going for a top 3 as well, probably 'cos I've never got the hang of Defender or Stargate either.

1. Robotron 2084. Not only the best Williams game but probably THE best video game of all time imo.

2. Joust. Just a superb game. Super addictive.

3. Sinistar - never quite mastered this one either but I can do much better at it than I can on Defender. I think I need to own one one day to try and do so. Also the sounds from this playing in the background in the arcades BITD are one of the most memorable. Awesome........ hmmmm maybe this should be No2!
