IRC is great, I agree
Unfortunately, if you have a firewall, the Java IRC client on
the UKVAC website will still NOT work. It uses the same
connection technology as mIRC etc., and as such is still
subject to the same firewall restrictions.
One of the main selling points of Java is that it's secure
and can't be used over the Internet to shag your computer
e.g. by breaching your firewall!
Thus, I've not been on for a few weeks now, since we've had
an upgraded firewall installed. :-(
