Tried MAME on 2 PCs, one running Win 7 and one running Win 8 - there's slight lag that I'm sure is down the the USB input rather than the screen response time.

Does anyone know a way to reduce input lag from a USB controller?

hey which usb controller are you using, and if using a usb adapter/converter also, let us know which

Hi

I'm just using a generic USB controller, direct to the USB port, no adapter/converter. Thanks.

ok for the first test then, just try whatever game you are playing but instead use a usb keyboard
are you getting any lag with the usb keyboard?

Did you have any luck sorting out the lag?

Yesterday was the first time I have had a good play on my MAME system and found that the player 2 has a far bit of lag on the joy and some of the buttons.

What controller?

I have hacked some cheap SNES copy pads and not noticed any lag. I've only done this for cabinets with one set of controls though.

I have the I-Pac 2. All the connections are good and tight no loose connections.

Running MAME with the Maximus Arcade Frontend

PC: Tiny XP, Core 2 Duo with 2 GB ram 320GB Sata HD

Everything has been up dated.

This is my first system and not sure if I have missed something in a setting somewhere.

I haven't used a recent one (I think they are USB only now?). The only think I can think of is to check you are using a USB 2.0 port and that the 'high speed' drivers are installed and working. Also avoid using a USB hub.

If you have an IPAC which can also be plugged into PS/2 (& your PC has a port) it might be worth trying that too.
