Robot wars has moved on

I'm guessing quite a few people on here liked robot wars in its hay day, the Philippa Forrester era. I think the format got tired and the toy fad blew itself out. Wedge shaped robots trundle out to meet other wedge shaped robots, nudge each other, break down.
Well the Americans seem to have taken the concept to a new level.

I saw 'combat robot league' by accident on Sci-Fi last week.

it's rather like rock'em sock'em robots but full scale. Rather cool really.

Philippa Forrester was my virtual girlfriend aged 12 to 17 (I went to an all boys' school). To this day my proudest moment is when she held up a Maggot Moments picture I'd drawn, in a link between False Or True and some prog with Trigger out of Fools & Horses in it always going on about "Archer's words"? Thank gawd they didn't read out the letter I sent with it
