Hi all,

Just a note to try and find out how many qualified divers are on this forum?
-I know there are a few.

Also, what qualifications to you hold and with what body, i.e. Padi, BSAC.
How many dives do you do a year?
Do you dive UK sites, or just abroad?

Here's our club:-
http://www.aylesburyducks.com

I hold Padi Ocean Diver, however I am now BSAC Sports Diver and dive around the UK (inland and coastal). Not dived abroad for a while, but happy to again. :)

Cheers,
DaveO.

As you know Dave, I have Padi Open Water.

Sadly I have not been diving for quite a few years, and when I did it was mostly abroad (Malta mainly). Done a couple of dives around the Witterings... other than that, still a bit of a scuba noob.

Would love to get into it again, I have alot of the equipment already so just name the date...

The question is... do I trust you enough to buddy with under the water...

BSAC Club Instructor

but not dived for quite a while now - was getting too expensive, and as the instructor I always had to dive with the newbies so I spent more time making sure they didn't do anything silly than I did looking at the scenery

I used to teach sports and dive leaders

from memory, deepest was probably about 55 metres diving out of portsmouth at a place called Hat Rock, but did several wrecks both UK and abroad that were similar depth (armed tug cullercoates off of portsmouth, some rolo ferry off of norfolk coast, crashed drug smuggler plane in Jamaica ...)

should have my logbook somewhere, that would have the details!

always air, sometimes with pony, usually second DV on same tank - first time I ever took a pony cylinder, my main DV went free flow and I had to use it - that was Hat Rock as well ;)

Cool.
Indeed, any dive over 30m and you should have a 2nd separate air source.

55m - wow, that's deep. Was that on a different mix, e.g. trimix, or staging tech dive?
About the limit for air that...

plain air, it's good for at least 10 metres beyond that (for a short time, but then you can't stay there for too long anyway, decompression stops get a little too long!)

Sponge divers in the greek islands regularly go to 74m on air (but then Greece probably don't have all the health and safety stuff .... funny place to dive is Greece, you can only dive in a few approved places, if you walked in off the beach (as you can in most countries) you would get arrested!)
