Sega Naomi Cab Restore

Good Morning All

I have an old Naomi cab that is looking a little warn and faded and was just after some advise on getting it looking better.

The bottom metal work paint is faded and dirty and was think of getting some white spray paint to tidy that up.

The Plastic Bezal has gone yellow and didnt know what to do with this.

Any help most appriciated.

Some people have had success leaving the yellowed plastics in sunlight, it sounds crazy but appears to work.

Otherwise you can spray paint it yourself or take it to a car body shop.

Do you think i can get away with the same colour spray paint for the plastic bezel as the metal work.

Any idea what type of white spray paint to go for, Matt or Gloss?

If you want a seamless colour match you would need to spray the entire cab as matching a slightly faded colour is very tough to do.

Yes you can use the same paint for metal and plastic since the plastic isn't being flexed, I would recommend lightly sanding the areas first, followed by primer and a gloss white (quite a few shades and best to research the best match to the original colour).

To get the best finish I would recommend going to a body shop with the individual pieces since a can doesn't give as good a finish as a gun.

Here is a Sega Saturn HS-0130 stick that was yellowed and I repainted using Halfords Gloss White paint.

do you have a link to the Gloss Paint from Halfords you used, the picture of your stick looks good so happy to go for that, i went to halfords and there were multiple choices

one was in a silver can saying Appliance Gloss White and one was in a blue can saying Enamel Spray Paint Gloss White

Also should i go for a white or Grey Primer.

Appliance gloss white was the one I used, I’d use a white primer but grey is fine since you’ll want to give a few coats for good coverage and glossy finish. I’d recommend leaving the paint to harden for a couple of days so it fully cures.

Just realised the sides need painting also, anyone have an idea of what type of grey paint to use for it.

Anyone know what the colour of the sides of a Naomi is, is it grey or more of a silver im not 100% Sure

is this a picture of your cab? im looking at my cab and im not sure i was just about to purchase some gun metal grey spray paint from halfords.

what paint did you use for it.
