Hey guys, not sure if this is the right place to ask so sorry if it's not!

I'm on the verge of buying a Sega New Astro City, but there's a problem! my doorway to my home is about a quarter of a inch too small to get the unit through in it's complete build state.

I was wondering if there's anyway to make the system fit through in terms of dismantling it or the like? I'm just trying to plan ahead instead of dropping the cash then it having it stuck in my path way with no where to go haha!

They come apart in many pieces, once you have the monitor out it splits down the sides so the whole back portion comes off. It's a bit more work but you shouldn't have any trouble getting it in.

on a scale of one to ten, how tricky is it to put everything back together? it's my first ever cabinet so I'm a little scared of making costly mistakes when putting back together.

Sorry if the questions are a bit silly haha, I'm just in a mixture of excitement and worry!

Here's mine disassembled, in order to get it into my games room. Main thing is, be careful with the monitor - they're heavy, akward and potentially full of lovely electricity so watch where you put your hands!

Ah that's perfect TheGecko! sounds like a strange question, but is there any give on the case it's self? i've been trying few things with my door way and i' toying with the idea that it the Cabinet may slide in with a bit of give?

sorry for all the questions :)

I'm assuming it's not too taxing to put back together? i've been looking around and it doesn't seem too hard?

My NAC was literally millimeters too big to get through the front door of my house, so yeah, it had to come apart. Got it done with the help of John Bud, not overly difficult, you just have to take your time and watch you don't neck the monitor.

Hi mate I received my first Astro City Candy Cab back in September, heres some tips on getting it apart :

I bought the security torx set below to remove the back panel and monitor :

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/ARCADE-MACHINE-9PC-TORX-STAR-KEY-SET-SEGA-CANDY-CAB-NEW-/180794935783?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&hash=item2a1837c9e7

Follow the guide below to remove the monitor and back panel :

http://1play100yen.blogspot.co.uk/2011/08/how-to-strip-new-astro-city.html

That parts easy enough the hard part is separting the two halves of the base, mine had never been taken apart before and the screws were stuck fast so I tried to remove the screws with a Philips screwdriver but no way could I keep a grip on the screws it just kept slipping and I ended up breaking some of the heads on the screws which was a major headache and I ended up having to drill them out with a small drill, turns out a lot of these Japanese Candy Cabs have JIS screws which need to be removed with a JIS screwdriver, they look like like a Philips screw but there not as deep. I would suggest you buy the ratchet socket set below for removing the screws on the base I found it much easier than using a screwdriver.

Hey Cosine,

What are you running in your NAC? is it still set for the orig games or have you mame'd it?

Nick
It's still JAMMA, currently running Radiant Silvergun

Personally, I don't really care for MAME cabs.

Hey guys, i did not buy the machine in the end. It was adding up as too much hassle transporting it, taking it apart, getting it into the house, finding a space in my room etc etc etc

I did however get a wooden cabinet with a game elf stuck in it
