I backed it! I can't see Sega letting Yu Suzuki use any of his previous arcade games in it like the other Shenmue and the capsule toys won't be Sega related... but I'm just glad its happening. Need to buy a PS4 now. Bloodstained & this will make a great 2017!

I've just signed up for the printed artwork backer option.
Now I just need to contain my excitement for the best part of 2 years!

Since the announcement at E3 all I've done is read and watch all things Shenmue!
I've gone for the signed collectors package myself, I had to work some overtime and pass by a cab I was really interested in.
I feel happy about my decision though. It's all well and good collecting things that are nostalgic but that doesn't put any more money into the developers pockets......so when the creator/developer of Shenmue needs help then I gotta do my bit to make it a reality.
4 more days till D-Day, I hope the campaign breaks the 5 million barrier.

i changed my pledge. i own shenmue 1 and 2 and never played them so i decided originally on $29 digital copy
now changed to $60 physical copy

The creator of: Hang On, Outrun, Space Harrier, Power Drift, Virtua Racing, Virtua Fighter, the 'Model' series of Aracde boards, F355 Challenge etc etc, Yu Suzuki has asked the world for help to Kickstart a game that would have probably languished unloved and uncompleted That takes some balls imo, imagine his embarrassment if it hadn't been funded.
For 100 USD and above = name in the credits of Shenmue III, that's a deal I couldn't pass by!
As the Tesco ad say, every little helps and upping your pledge has boosted the total.

I thought it would smash 10m as well mate.
After some garbage reporting/speculation I think some people still think Sony are funding it and since it's already reached it's goal it doesn't need any more funding.
As you know more money = more features, the game is already gonna be great but that extra bit of funding is the icing on the cake. If it makes 5m then I'm most happy, 7.5m would be awesome as the fighting aspect would be improved greatly, sadly 10m is a little out of reach imo.
Rather than focus on the above, I'm just happy that Shenmue III is coming and 55k people agree enough that they have pledged almost 5m.

great kickstarter and very good ending
I pushed myself some more
I decided I wanted the phone card and my original bid was $60 for a PC copy
so I looked at the $80 one and and also thought about the $100 but thought as I had done before over 10 thousand names in the credits, I doubt i'll ever find mine
but then I thought F it and changed my pledge to $100 PC copy and beta copy and phone card and my name in credits
now im also a piece of history
I know for a fact my kids will play this game in years to come as they still will be young in December 2017 so will be nice when they complete the game and see the credits and actually try to search for my name

Yeah, the finish the the campaign was great.
Indeed, it was history in the making. Looks like we will all be searching the credits for our names!
The previous project I backed was the Last Ninja 3 soundtrack remake, it was cool to back it and see how much it finished at.....but it was nowhere near as exciting as this one!
Did you watch the live stream where Yu Suzuki and the other members of the team were commentating? There were really nice vibes coming from those guys, and it was plain to see that Yu and company were just as happy and excited as we were!
I've never felt so happy to Kickstart a project mate, I'd be surprised if something like this gets Kickstarted again. I mean, it's not like it's a Kickstarter of an unofficial remake/reboot of a game series like Castlevania/Megaman (Bloodstained and Mighty No9)....it's a Kickstarter started by the creator of a game series with the backing of the copyright holder where he has complete control over the project. I think they are going to pour their hearts into the game knowing that it's funded by the fans for the fans.
Much props to Sega for allowing Yu Suzuki to complete his magnum Opus and much props to all the people who funded it.
The the wait for Shenmue III will be a while, but at least it happening now.
