similar but opposite action......…. forgotten and lost as a result...……..
back in the 80s I used to site video games anywhere I thought would be secure and take some coins.at the time I had about 85-90 on single sites 3or4 chippys 30+youth clubs 5+community centes a cinema in chester . 2 nightclubs in chester and a load of video film libraries in towns and villages
worst nightmare that ever happened aside from the numerous minor damage break ins I suffered... was one I put a
missile command in a place in Ellesmere Port and it was a dive...it closed for a few months that summer... I actually did forget it was there...………
...and when I remembered near they had chucked it out under new management …………lucky they only cost a few pounds to acquire at the time as there were loads and heavy to handle so not so desired…..
was only when I met a jammaplus member several years later he said .. one of his
best finds ever was a missile command in the rear yard of the sports club …. he said it never worked but there was about £60 in 10ps in the coin box....
always made sure a clear service phone no and owners details were on machines after that …… the rear door was stencilled with a logo we used in yellow CSYA but the service telephone number must have peeled off??????????
if I recall it was a bad year that year too.. as I got a full house-brick in a centipede monitor because they could not get any cash out MOST OF OUR GAMES had 'Motorway Bars' an iron slide out bar across the doors with beefy padlocks,,,, KNACKERED THE GAME it got burnt soon after and only about £4 in it at the time,,,, that same site the burglars tipped the pinball on its side and tried get the cash out through the bottom...……. made a huge hole but the door barred and even a small padlock on the coinbox lid prevented them getting £12.00 from that one
but really LUCKY same month I removed a midway space invader and a pinball from a youth club at ELTON a small village near Stanlow oil refinery in Cheshire as they had had about 3 break ins tho the machines never got attacked at all...…… BUT SAME NIGHT THE CLUB , a prefabricated timber and part brick building was burned to the ground ……… PHEW!!!!!
you don't get these risks with your home aracdes and gamesrooms do you ???????????
I STILL HAVE A HUGE PILE OF 'MOTORWAY BARS' (named that as used in most motorway services back then and rough town pubs too) IN THW WORKSHOP redundant now but we have fitted odd ones to fruits in rough pubs and a night-club in RHYL so there just in case !!!
IF YOU EVER GET A MACHINE WITH MYSTERY 6-8mm HOLES in each side at cash door level ? that's what they were there for BAR BRACKETS some just have hasp and staple padlocks but that's only LOW security
