TECH: Atari Caberet Cabinet Hardware

UKVAC,

I have a Asteroids Deluxe and a Missile Command. I have seen an Asteroids (Classic) cabaret cabinet and believe that it is the same as the Missile Command with a hinging front and top panel. Why then does Asteroids Deluxe, which is chronologically in the middle, have a different style of cabinet (with a hinging top only).

Because the asteroids is a conversion? I didn't think they made an
asteroids cabaret but I could (easily) be wrong.

Sorry, call be Mr Stupid for getting the names wrong again. I was actually
referring to cocktail cabinets. The question should make a lot more sense
now. Thankyou to everybody for not pointing out the obvious. As far a I
know, the cabinets are not conversions.

AsDL is not in "the middle"

Here is the actual US chronological release dates:

Jun - 80 Asteroids Cabaret
Sep - 80 Missile Command Cabaret
Dec - 80 Battle Zone Cabaret
Apr - 81 Asteroids Deluxe Cabaret

Jul - 81 Centipede CAB
Dec - 81 Tempest Cabaret

You are right Ast & MC Cabaret cabs are identical, AsDL is different.

As to why the cabs are different. I don't know but maybe when I look at
my Ast & Ast DL cabs I'll get a clue.

Stay tooned.
