[ukvac] Tech : Atari System 1 info required!
Hi,
I am planning on buying an Indiana Jones PCB, and need Atari System 1 info desperately!
I have no knowledge of the system at all, and would need to convert it to Jamma...
Looking at the pinouts on Spies, there appear to be some strange power ratings, and different sync's on the monitor pins.

I need to know the following...

1) Is it feasible to convert Atari System 1 to Jamma?
2) Does anyone make adapters for doing this?
3) Outside of the main System 1 PCB, and daughterboard, are there any other PCB's (power etc.) I would need to get this running?

4) Does anyone have any spare mainboards, and any additional PCB's you would need for sale?

Thanks in advance for any help!
Cheers,
Paul

Probably, but have you seen how big the sys1 motherboard is!? Fitting it in
a normal cab should be fun....

You'll probably have to make your own, I asume the sys1 pinouts are on the
web somewhere, if not I have a manual.

The power amp is definitely on an external board though I've 2 system one
cabinets and they differ slightly in that the (linear)psu/power amp are
both on the same board in one cab while the other uses a switch mode PSU and
small seperate amp board. But the short answer would appear to be no you
don't need any extra boards as you could work around the stuff just
mentioned :)

He has now! hehe.

It's just about the WORST system to jamma you could think of.

Not only because of the reasons already mentioned but also 3 out of the
5 system1 games use non standard controllers (trackball on marblemadness
, steering wheel on roadblasters , hal effect joystick on roadrunner).

If you just want to play indiana jones there's a 'cocktail' version of
the board - much more compact and easy to work with. There's also a
'cocktail' version of the roadblasters board - It was used in the
cockpit machine. They use the standard NAMCO pinouts and are easy to
jamma I think.
