[ukvac] Tech help needed: Namco Splatterhouse

I need a replacement for the following component: located at M4 on the main
board it's a 2x20 pin package with the number 64A1. The silkscreen on the
PCB says "custom 64" :(

The game crashed when I went to change the dip settings and is now stuck in
ROM test mode. This game has menu driven settings (battery backed RAM?) so
I'm a little concerned I might have some sort of battery of death
scenario.... The board is circa 1988 and I assume is similar to other Namco
games of the era.

The question is what is it and where can I get another??

I dont have my board to hand, but this chip could be the
protection chip that was unquie to each game that ran
on this board. I believe there are some patched roms sets
around that can run on this board without the protection
chip in place, I heard that Pacmania had been hacked this way.

The settings are saved in EEPROM so they should be ok.
As for the board it is a Namco System 1 board, all these ran
on it.
