Hi all,

Just heard this recently, that people are considering running a course to teach teenagers to use a phone...! -because apparently teenagers now are actually becoming scared to speak to someone...

No...I'm not joking, as apparently they use them for texting, Facebook, Twitter, apps, games, camera, etc. just not to actually 'speak' to someone, which is totally ironic given its original intention. :)

Cheers,
DaveO.

I don't like phoning people. Never have done. But it's only because everyone else on the other end are morons. Typically.

The rise of messaging and email at workplaces is having the same effect on people.

I have no idea why people don't just pick up the phone more...

at work, you can ring a customer to advise them of something quick and then they go on and on. Easier and quicker to just send a letter/email

I work for an email management and multi-channel company, and often calling a customer saves a lot of time, especially if the issue is a tricky one. Otherwise a ping-pong email effect can happen, which can lead to the customer getting more and more annoyed, then escalates...

-I've seen recent examples on this forum with people falling out over a deal/money, which has happened before in the past, so nothing new, however I am sure a quick phone-call or skype call would solve the issue/problem far quicker than numerous emails and postings going on and on and on....

Sometimes a simple solution is the best way forwards, all too often we try to complicate our lives when life is more than complicated enough already. :)

Cheers,
DaveO.

i've seen this with my son (he's 21 btw) and i've heard him on the phone but you can tell by the tone in his voice actually speaking to his mates on the phone sounds 'uncomfortable' for him but txt'ing his thumbs are a 'blur' over the keypad

The art of conversation is dead amongst the youth of today...really sad when you think about it

You can picture it know...a group of some 18 to 20 years olds all sat together in a pub have a drink in stoney silence, all clicking away at their mobiles txt'ing each other who are just yards away from them
