The UKvac FB group?

Just me that hates discord, then? Lol. Only use it when I have to. So much fluff thrown at me, confusing format and logging in recently was harder than getting access to online banking. Wtf?

i would be lost without discord, its basically a chat channel but if you are in the right groups, it is fantastic

being in the right groups is the really import part

A lot more buying and selling seems to happen on the FB group.
It's hard to work out who's both on there and here as it's all real names on there.

I'd thought it was a public group - it certainly is/was to view. The problem with that is your friends and family get bored to death seeing your UKVAC posts in their daily feed as the algorithm thinks they need to see such things (until they stop following you).
So do you need admin approval to post and comment now? You didn't used to, so any random troll could jump in.

I find selling on the FB group painful. Buying isn't so bad as I can read and I do a check on the seller first. Usually having mutual friends is a good sign.

When setting terms and conditions for selling this seems to invite all kinds of questions and from then on it's like people are driven by drama on there. FFS if they don't want something then why say anything? A normal person just moves on but normal people seem to avoid FB.

My biggest problem with the FB group is there are some very foolish individuals on there that will plug in a 40 year old machine expecting it to work and not even do basic checks first. Then when they break anything they post it up like it's normal.
Why would anybody do that?

Interesting. I’m on both but don’t really use FB so not sure what gets posted there. I have had a few items up for sale for a while on here. I’m sure a few years ago they would have been snapped up. The economic reality we are living with now probably has a lot to do with it, but I might try sticking them on FB to see if they sell. I much prefer the forum though. This feels like our little corner of the internet. FB is just a mass of crap.

Half the users on the FB group can't read or skim read. I tried messaging someone on there this week on behalf of a member on here that doesn't use FB and it is painful trying to communicate. Gave up in the end. Maybe I should have used pictures? Nah.

Yes I do believe the world is full of stupid people and a high percentage of them infest Facebook.

Maybe, but thanks to FB reels you then wasted 15 minutes learning one neat trick when using a watermelon stuck on your electric drill!

Nope, can't undo.
It's a bit rubbish and especially easy to do by accident if you're using a phone.

Honestly don't worry about it.

It's the one thing we don't have control over with admin tools.

Will look into it eventually.
