Time to switch off completely and stop Funding BBC Propaganda

The relentless lies and fear they push on all channels is off the scale now and I have better things to spend money on

What can I legally watch on TV without a licence?

You do not need a TV Licence to watch:
  • streaming services like Netflix and Disney Plus.
  • on-demand TV through services like All 4 and Amazon Prime Video.
  • videos on websites like YouTube.
  • videos or DVDs.
After listening to a nice guy on Youtube, if you don't watch live TV why am I still paying? soon we'll be more than likely be paying in some sort of forced Tax so save some money now while I can :) if GB News or BBC etc put things on Youtube, as long as it's not Live you can watch it all

have a listen to him if your worried about anything, he has another channel too, just don't engage if they send a salesman to your door

I thought the license had actually been cancelled going by the title of the thread, clickbait arrives to UKVac! :ROFLMAO:

You still have to pay the license if you have Sky or Virgin, no exemptions. So it's not gonna be easy for some people, especially if they have kids.

I loathe the BBC and stopped watching years ago, along with any and all news broadcasts, on any channel. I only very rarely watch any broadcast TV. Freeview is utter rubbish, for the most part. I think you'll find that Prime subscribers, like myself, do still have to pay the TV licence fee, for some unfathomable reason. It's an outrageous scam.

Only if you pay an additional subscription for TV channels though?
You shouldn't need to pay anything for on demand, such as the STD Prime Video. Or am I missing something?

Random guy on the internet collaborating with the UK government said:

Subscribers to Amazon’s Prime Video service will need to be covered by a TV Licence if they choose to pay for watching live TV services now offered by the entertainment platform.

Amazon announced this week it will offer live television channels for the first time in Europe and the UK. Customers who subscribe to Amazon’s Prime Video service will be able to pay an extra monthly subscription fee to gain access to live TV services including Discovery, Eurosport and ITV.

Jason Hill, TV Licensing spokesperson said:

Going to have to cancel my Prime then as they offer live TV on it
As far as I'm aware, Prime Video doesn't come with the additional 'Live' channels that require a TV license.
Prime Video is an on-demand subscription based viewing package, Prime Channels are additional channels that you can pay for which are simultaneously broadcast on satellite/cable.

I may be wrong, but it''s my understanding that the basic Prime Video subscription doesn't require a TV license..

I listen to BBC Radio 6 most days, which I think I need the licence for, only radio station I like.

As for Netflix and Amazon prime I do need to cancel, last thing I watched was Fauda about a year ago. So much crap on Netflix, all content seems made for an American audience,

No, you do not need a TV Licence to listen to the radio (including on BBC Sounds). If you play music on your business premises for customers or staff – through radio, TV, computer or CD/DVD, for example – please check if you need music licences from www.pplprs.co.uk/your-tv-licence-at-work.

I pay mine with great joy every quarter. I think the BBC in the round is an exception institution, and a fabulous bargain to boot.

There's also many reasons to my mind why the licence approach is a great thing (which I can yak about for hours if so desired) but I will say the pricks that currently administer the collection system can get in the sea. But frankly that's successive government's fault that they exist at all tbh. So they can get in the sea as well.

Happily lived without a tv license for years when I was by myself. My evenings consisted of console gaming, the odd DVD and occasionally iPlayer when it arrived (and before it became a requirement to have a license). No hatred for the BBC or anything, I’m just instinctively tight. Frugal I should say.

Nowadays I’m head of a blended family and have subscriptions coming out of my ears. Tv license, virgin internet and tv, Disney, Netflix, Amazon Prime, 1 x PlayStation essential, 2 x Xbox Live. Shudder to think how much it all costs, I don’t think I want to know.
Oh and Spotify too, forgot that one.
And I spend most of my time fiddling with arcade games in the garage using none of it. I suppose the point is it keeps everyone else happy and out that way. Can’t put a price on peace and quiet :)

I cancelled mine back in 2013 when the BBC lost the rights to broadcast MotoGP live and have never looked back, as that was the only thing that I would watch live back then. Also you could still watch iPlayer, it wasnt until about 2016/2017 that they change the rules/"law" to stop you also using iPlayer without a License.

You definately dont need it if you have Prime, even if they do transmit live channels as long as you are not watching or recording the live channels.

I think the same applies to having a Sky or Virgin Channel subscription, you dont need to have a License just because you have a subscription as long as you dont actually watch or record any of the Live channels, which would be pointless yes, but legally accurate.

When we used to sell TVs at a supermarket prior to 2004 we were advised that customers needed to complete a TV license form. So my understanding was that all TVs that could get a signal had to have a license

But guys if you cancel your tv license how are you gonna know if the arcade machine in the caff on Eastenders is still running the Space Fortress Macross PCB?
I doubt I could watch an episode long enough to find out, before wanting to throw myself under the nearest bus. Lol
