Valuations - a Library

All,

Seeing as there seems to constantly be rows or debates about valuations of various items, how would people feel about having a valuation catalogue that listed advised buy and sell prices for boards.

Could have a small set of trusted users contribute to a pre determined list, then add to that list as more people requested items.

I’d be happy to put in some worn to administer this, although would need some users to help with valuations.

It’d stop all the,”this is too much your taking the P” comments, or at least stop people who are clueless to value walking into the trap. Would also keep the valuation thread fairly efficient in terms of only having questions about genuinely obscure stuff. For the most part, they could reference the library.

Prices fluctuate. It would become out-of-date pretty quickly.

If OPs stopped removing their prices once a "For Sale" item sold, we would quickly have a searchable solution. Quick search, look at the quality of the item, check the price and you have your answer (and yes, the search does work now!).

Again - self-moderation from forum members is required.

I have over 30 odd years owned a huge number of game pcbs 'MOSTLY' from NEW or under a couple of years of use ( its a fact I have not bought any pcbs since year 2000 ish) so they have all been owned for 20-40 years .

some came with second hand cabinets either acquired or taken in exchange for our new jamma ones. period 1987-1999 many of the dedicared ones were acquired in arcades we took over or bought as second hand machines...as sited machines or to site in pubs etc.…

I was just saying to a member last week how I bought 24 rastan saga and around 21 of them had consecutive serial numbers and were one of the first batch of new pcbs we sold on as complete jamma cabs HE WAS SHOCKED AT HOW LOW PRICE THEY WERE IN 1987 … we later bought over 300 streetfighters various type but mostly SFllCE and all new licenced but not necessarily same 'manufacturing origins' ALL FULLY LICENCED especially the 'world cup 90s'were produced fully licenced by several manufacturers and all NON-BOOTLEG but how would second hand buyers EVER be assured of this ??????

we were allowed to revamp POLE POSITION and other previously dedicated games into our cabs subject to adapting the controls accordingly...not much, including our cabs was covered by patent protection at that time as it takes too long to satisfy the legislation and you would have missed the limited time market for that product

A GAME IS ONLY EVER WORTH WHAT A BUYER WANTS TO PAY I tend not to price anything I sell and would often loose out as a result as I paid well under £100 each for new rastan sagas and I think I would never insulted anyone on here by asking over 300 for my Michael Jackson moonwalker owned from new and recently sold .. BUT THE WORLD VALUATION LISTING AKA Ebay valued it at well over 300 sadly that was its value elsewhere in Europe as many of my recent ebay listing have gone to buyers in NORWAY GERMANY ITALY SWITZERLAND FRANCE & IRELAND all seemed very happy to pay a price by AUCTION the ebay settled price from the description given .. SOME OF THOSE HAVE BOUGHT FROM ME BEFORE AND HAPPY THEN TOO

fair enough I felt surprised & elated at many prices gained and perhaps disappointed at a couple but out of around 30 I only got left with maybe 2

I do often look at valuations in the thread here just curious but never opinion them..myself as it could mislead potential buyers/sellers with my wonder at how some depreciate and many have appreciated in value over time and collectability status (or now rarity too) . nother place I look at selling prices is on KLOV at the base of the game page often world sellers are highlighted with related pcb flier or parts sales....

JUST STICK TO WHAT WE HAVE HERE NOW 'if its not broke don't fix it' and you could end up with a massive list of inaccurate values not to mention 'cowboy traders' influencing prices too … trust in people you already trust and be wary of strangers...….

also ebay supply 'sold' listings details tick box at side of subject see what prices people got on there or similarly completed listings 'unsold' in black 'sold' in green listings prices (if it failed to sell its either no-one wants it or too costly?) provided that that pcb or cabinet has appeared in the system of course !!
