I am trying to get a logo made into a badge for an arcade steering wheel. I've had stickers made up by this place before:

...and they can also do laser cut brushed aluminium style badges, which is what I'm after.

I sent them an .svg file but they said it had problems:

'File is corrupted/has unconnected vector points causing starring.'

My image just uses objects, I think maybe it should use paths. Does anyone know what the above means exactly?

It sounds like your file has lots of single unconnected lines making the shapes rather than solid shapes. You should be using paths for vector images.

Many thanks for your reply.

The shapes seem to be made of joined lines making solid shapes.

I am using Inkscape and when I click on a shape it does say eg 'Path (4 nodes)'. If I select several shapes it says eg '3 objects of type Path'. However if I group the shapes and select the group, it says eg 'Group of 10 objects' - does this mean they are no longer 'paths' if grouped? I had grouped several of the shapes before sending off.

Is there a way I can validate the file?

Thanks again.
