Astro Wars. Now that was a top game. My brother and me got it for Christmas back in 1981. Happy days!

But you're right about the vectrex, and pretty much all the consoles back in the early 80s. We tend to forget, but if you gross up the ticket prices for these things to account for inflation, some of the game cartridges alone were going for the equivalent of about £100 each !

Is binary kq_76 on ebay? I bought a test cart from him this morning.

In other news, looks like I've found myself a working Vectrex at a good price!

Yes, that's Chris "Binarystar" Malcolm... and nice one on getting a Vectrex.

Prices are about £200 loose and £400 boxed now but they still vary +/- #30 I reckon.

I am www.vectorrepublic.co.uk and I'm working on my 3rd game atm, a top down racer... my other games are still available.

The VecFever is amazing, has brand new homebrew games, static binary translations that allow original arcade roms to run on the Vectrex and loads more. Not currently available but a Mark II version is looking on the horizon. Additionally look up Vextreme and PiTrex which are both very promising and open source projects that will be offering similar functionality too.

There's loads going on. If not on facebook then there's a longer running forum here:

http://vectorgaming.proboards.com/board/20/vectrex

And an Atariage forum here:

https://atariage.com/forums/forum/182-vectrex/

I have original style black cart shells as well as translucent coloured ones I can sell as well as replacement plastic box inners if you need any.

:)

Cheers. I looked through your sight the other day when I was browsing around. Very impressive to produce new games like that! Dev for the vectrex is something I may *possibly* try and get involved in at some point, but at the mo I'm just trying to familiarize myself with the whole scene. There sure is loads going on!

The VecFever does look amazing, although I haven't quite grasped all the things you can do with it, yet. If a MkII became available (and not as rare as hen's teeth), that would be great!

I'm signed up to the atariage forum, but haven't posted yet.

I'll be in touch some time about the cart shells and box inners, thanks. Looking forward to getting my hands on a Vectrex, finally!

They look excellent, virtvic! I was planning to contact you some time about the Asteroids one. Do you make all of these to order, or just for personal use? Intrigued to know what games the dual analogue one is used for?

I do make them to order - getting an interest list up now, so I can order more parts etc for the next run. I have sold 44 so far.

Dual Analog - Robot Arena on the Vecfever cart. Can also work with other twin stick games such as Battlezone, Black Widow, Stramash Zone. most of those are on Vecfever or hard to find though (Stramash Zone)

Vectrex has arrived! This popped up on ebay last week, and I was in such a rush to look through the listing and pics, I only noticed it was 'collection only' after hitting the BIN button. Luckily the seller had no problem with shipping it to me, at cost.

Listed as working with 9 boxed games for £300. Boxes are tatty, but all games have their manuals and overlays. On arrival, it was just displaying a white dot, but I reseated an IC that must have jarred loose in transit, and all's good again!

Haven't had much time to play with it yet, but loving it so far! It's got a definite charm to it.

Nice one, I continue to keep watch for one, one sold earlier today for £160 but was collection only. Ideally want one to come up very close to me so I can collect.

Yep, been checking out all the sites, Eric. Some great stuff around, and some very talented people!

Beautiful, Dude. Nice get! Keep us updated on your fav games, and the ones we should avoid...
I got a 72-in-1 as well, which has all 18 officially released games, but obviously you don't get to play those with the proper overlays. just been quickly going through the carts to check they're working. For starters, I'm liking Clean Sweep, Mine Storm (built-in game), Scramble, Berzerk and Rockaroids Remix on the multi. Lots more to go through yet, though!

That was cheap if it was a working one! I know what you mean about getting one close by for collection. I was quite nervous today unboxing mine, praying the tube and casing survived.

Search for steven kray on vectrex fans unite group on Facebook. he does top quality repo overlays

Good to know someone is making these. I watched a vid of repairing/cleaning a controller, and see the overlay has to be peeled back to access the screws. Looks like you can heat and re-stick the overlay if done carefully, though.

I'm not on FaceBook but wondered if James Watt from clockworkrobot is? I've emailed him a couple of times about ordering one of his UV frames, but haven't got a reply. I've got some UV overlays on order, so really would like to get one.

I've taken a few controller overlays off with a hairdryer to heat the glue for repairs; it works ok but I've never been very happy with it and have always replaced the sticker wit ha repro... luckily there's some good quality repros out there.

Jim runs the Vectrex Fans Unite page on facebook, he's also Marblemad on here:) ... he should be in touch soon though, he's typically fast at responding. I can give him a nudge for you.

Those boxes look decent enough that if you put them on the shelf in the clear box protectors you can get they would look pretty decent.

Yes, the overlays didn't exactly look perfect afterwards, in the couple of vids I watched. One guy even managed to delaminate the overlay.

If you could let Jim know I've emailed him (in case they went AWOL, for some reason), that would be great, thanks.

Cheers for the heads-up on the box protectors. I didn't know they existed. Will get some of those.

Fan dabby dobby system. Which ive been tempted to sell a couple of times.
Which ive recently just got back into, i have 10 of the original games plus vector pilot and vector patrol ( both of which are super groovy. )

You can defo pick up loose carts fairly cheap, although id imagine like me you would prefer boxed with its overlay but i think some one has mentioned ste kray for repo overlays ( ive just ordered 3 from him myself, be here soon )

I also have a 2nd controller which are stupidly priced at least £100 sovs for one.

And im defo thinking of a controller from Vic, not sure which i want just yet...

Nice. Is Ste Kray only contactable via FaceBook? I may need 1 or 2 controller overlays soon.

Vector Pilot and Vector Patrol are epic! Loving the rendition of 'Walking on the Moon'. I just leave the Vectrex on sometimes to listen to it and watch the demo.

Kristof kindly let me have a second overlay (differnt style) for Vector Pilot.

I defo want one of Vic's controllers too, but also not sure which one yet. I also have to reign in my spending for a few weeks, as I've ended up splerging on various kit. Got some lovely UV overlays, but can't use them as I haven't managed to make contact with ClockworkRobot to order a UV frame.

Saw a controller on ebay the other day for 65 quid. It sold pretty quick.
