Hi All!

OK, I've updated the web site and now the videos are available via
bit torrent as this shares the load (hopefully - leave your seeds
going for a week )

More files coming soon... Anyone got others let me know and we'll
open up the ftp...

If you don't know what bit torrents are - basically you'll need a
client downloader - i recommend www.torrentstorm.com for windosers

PS anyone who started downloading this morning will need to re-
download the .torrents as the tracker has changed. Also take note to
rename 'ex' folder to 'Exidy_Warehouse_March01' as I'm made it match
the RARs

A quick note to those that are new to BitTorrent (and indeed those that
aren't!)

When you have completed your download, PLEASE LEAVE YOUR DOWNLOAD WINDOW OPEN
SO OTHERS CAN UPLOAD FROM YOU.

If you don't do this the whole system WILL NOT WORK. Obviously, if you HAVE to
disconnect it for work or other reasons (as i have to shortly) then that
can't be helped, but if you get time after work, please restart the download
(if you save it to the same place it will merely verify your downloaded file
and then just sit there serving it up without starting the download again).

The reason for this is quite simple.

I have access to the logs (was helping set it up yesterday), and i can see
from that, that so far i am the one with the most of the file. Problem is, i
don't have ALL the file.

So the way it works is that you're all downloading from each other, until you
get to the tail end of the file. Then because no-one's left their downloads
open at the end, we're all sitting there (me included) with nowhere to get
the end of the file from!!

I can see this happening now in the logs.

Hopefully Rav will read this and become a seeder once more so i can grab the
end of the file.

Once there is more than one person with the entire file and their download
window open, the whole system comes into it's own!

Actually, i can see that someone has just become a seeder again (Rav, maybe?)

But get the point? If you just leech, it won't work.

OK, so I now have 700mb made up of 37 .rar files, which I'm sharing
with everyone - fine - no problem...
Now the stupid question! How do I play them - the players I have
installed won't open them:-(

I have had the warehouse raid torrent open ALL day but I get a message
saying that there is a problem with the tracker. The other files came
in very fast.

Any suggestions?

Cummon guys, we've not all heard of RARs

Adrian - you need to get winRAR (www.winrar.com I think) or some
other RAR if your not windows based.

Better state for the record now that all vids downloaded are xvid.
You can download a viewer from www.xvid.com for free i think.

I'll add this info to the web page with hyperlinks...

Just a thought, when did you start downloading the Exidy one?

For most of yesterday it was on my tracker, but last night it was switched over
to the one on the ukvac server.

Mine was only really for while it was being tried out, so it isn't there any
more.

If you're pulling all three from the same tracker then I'm not so sure as all
three should work just as well as each other, being on the same tracker.

SO... to conclude Gudd's email - you need to go back to
www.ukvac.com/downloads and reget the .torrent files and they'll
resume/seed/whatever!

PS if you are getting the exidy one remember to rename the folder!

Isn't this nostalgic ... downloading these videos on broadband makes you
feel like you're using a 28k modem all over again!

You need to "unrar" them to a single file first.

hi

have been seeding this file all day and i will keep it going until
the bandwidth stops or my pc crashes

i also find that the more people that seed the file the faster the
download will be so come on guys we need your spare bandwidth

lookin forward to any other arcade related vids, that exidy vid is
top stuff

Am I correct to assume that seeding happens automatically as long as I leave
Torrentstorm open?

I'm still only part way through the downloads but it does show I've sent
19.23Mb without any action on my part!

connections, but no-ones connected now...

I just de-interlaced the video, cut of the bottom bit with the video
distort and re-compressed it into mp4. This results in a smoother
player video of only 300mb. Anyone interested if I would turn it into a
torrent file?
